Doumbe’s last fight was controversially waved off after he got a splinter in his toe and the Frenchman has sent a message to referee Marc Goddard, who was officiating the bout
Jake Paul responds to PFL acquiring Bellator
PFL star Cedric Doumbe has made his feelings clear on veteran referee Marc Goddard after the controversial ending to his last fight.
Doumbe, who fights Jaleel Willis at Bellator Champions Series 2 this Friday in Paris, suffered his first MMA defeat in March when he faced Baki Chamsoudinov. Goddard believes that Doumbe was unable to continue because of a splinter in his toe, that was caused by a foreign object entering the cage, and the fight was subsequently waved off.
The stoppage was immediately protested by Doumbe, who felt he was still able to continue despite Goddard calling an end to the fight. Doumbe doesn’t want Goddard to officiate any of his bouts in the future and posed a question to the referee. “I never spoke to him after,” Doumbe said. “If I could say something to him now I would ask him why the f*** would you do that?”
“I will ask Bellator to not [assign] me that referee, but if they can’t it doesn’t matter. I fight against the opponent not against the referee. I will not even look at him or talk to him so it doesn’t matter for me.” Doumbe admitted he was once of a fan of Goddard as the referee was the third man in the cage for his MMA debut, which he won by KO three years ago.
Doumbe went viral last September after winning his PFL debut by KO in just nine-seconds. Paris Saint Germain stars Kylian Mbappe, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele and Layvin Kurzawa all watched on from cageside and Doumbe wants to produce a similar highlight-reel KO this Friday. “I really want to delete what happened last time,” he added.

“I just want to put on a show and knockout anyone they put in front of me.” Doumbe expects the likes of Paul Pogba and French actor Vincent Cassell to be in attendance for his fight this Friday. Watch Doumbe vs Willis at Bellator Champion Series Paris live on DAZN from 5pm this Friday 17 March.
