Charlotte Dawson has revealed that she was publicly shamed for breastfeeding her daughter, Gigi, as she hit back at a member of the public for their rude comments
Charlotte Dawson has furiously hit back as she recalls facing scrutiny from a member of the public while breastfeeding her six-month-old daughter Gigi.
The TV star, 32, who shares kids Noah, four, Jude, two, and Gigi with her fiancé Matt Sarsfield, says she was breastfeeding her youngest when a stranger criticized her. She tells Mirror, “It was so unnecessary. I was feeding my baby and this woman told me, ‘Go get a bottle.’ In 2025!
“It’s ridiculous. We should be supporting each other, not judging. I’ll breastfeed her as long as she wants. It’s our journey. When she’s done, she’s done,” continued Charlotte.
Charlotte has been open online about her breastfeeding journey, its struggles and how she has weaned her sons off of breast milk, after choosing to breastfeed all three of her children. It’s not the first time she has been subject to breastfeeding scrutiny either, with Charlotte the victim of social media trolling back in 2021 after she gave birth to Noah.
After Charlotte asked for privacy online at the time, an Instagram user blasted: “Can’t claim you want privacy haha when your literally sharing the most special and precious moments with your baby to everyone since he’s been born.”
She replied: “I’m trying to show you all bits cos I’m excited, but keeping a few things back… and showing my breastfeeding journey. It’s natural. Idiot honestly.”
The daughter of comedian Les Dawson welcomed Gigi in March this year, after a tumultuous year in her personal life – which saw her fiancé embroiled in a sexting scandal.
Last summer, Charlotte discovered Matt had been sending explicit texts to another woman, while she was pregnant with Gigi. Choosing to move on from the drama, she says they’re back on track now: “We’re solid, you know?” she says. “We’ve worked through everything and now it’s all about the kids and family life.”
The couple are so good that Charlotte hasn’t ruled out baby number four completely, as she laughs: “I say this is my last baby – but never say never,” she adds, grinning. “I love babies. I love being a mum. It’s tough, but it’s the best.”
But first, she’s focusing on getting her brood through some major milestones over the next few years, with Noah now in his very first year of school – something she says has been tough to wrap her head around.
“Noah was my lockdown baby, my firstborn – he’s always been with me. So, the thought of him going off in his little uniform, I’m hormonal just thinking about it. Honestly, I’m in bits.”
Explaining that it will be a change of speed for the family, she continued: “Noah’s never really had a proper routine. I live in Barbie world! When he was a baby, I just wanted him with me all the time. But now school is starting, we have to nail this bedtime thing. That’s what I’m most worried about.”
