A driver and passenger have tragically died following a horror car crash in Chelmsford which left two others seriously injured.

Police and emergency services were called to on B1007 Stock Road, by junction 16 of the A12, just after 3am this morning after two cars collided and killed a driver, in his 30s, and a passenger, in his 50s. Their families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The car crash involved a blue BMW 3 series, which was found on a nearby field looking damaged.

Paramedics tragically declared both men dead at the scene. Two other men were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, according to police. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The road remains close while officers carry out their investigations.

Essex Police said: “We would ask the public to avoid the area while we continue with this work at the scene. As we piece together what led to this tragic incident we particularly want to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue BMW 3 series car in the early hours of 23 March.”

Inspector James Freeman added: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two people who died today.

“We are working hard to establish what led up to this collision and would urge anyone with information to contact us. If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us as soon as possible.”
