Tensions have grown between Chris Eubank Jr and Eddie Hearn ahead of the fighter’s clash against Conor Benn on April 26 and now the stakes have been heightened after the pair agreed to a £1million bet on the outcome of the fight

Chris Eubank Jr has escalated his feud with Eddie Hearn by accepting his £1million bet for his upcoming fight against bitter rival Conor Benn, insisting he wants to find out if the promoter is “a man of his word or a lying hype job”.

Eubank Jr clashed with Hearn at the first press conference for his showdown with Benn after repeatedly refused to let him speak as the pair were involved in a furious back-and-forth at the event in Manchester. The tension between them has only grown as Hearn urged Benn to “smash him to pieces” before Eubank slapped his rival with an egg at their face-off.

Now the stakes have been heightened even further ahead of the highly anticipated fight between the sons of legendary pair Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn on April 26 – as Hearn vowed to put £1m in escrow in a winner-takes-all bet. “We’re going to have a bigger bet,” he said. “We’re gonna have £1million in escrow tomorrow morning. I’m telling you now. £1million in escrow tomorrow morning.”

Eubank recorded a separate video teasing Hearn as he replied: “Eddie… come on Eddie. £1million eh? OK. Let’s find out if you’re a man of your word, or just a lying hype job. I formally accept your £1million bet. “The £1million will be our own personal money. Not company money or purse money. Just a straight up bet between me and you. The money will go into escrow and the winner takes all. Now I look forward to watching you try to weasel your way out of this bet like the rodent I know you are. Good day.”

In addition to the bad blood between Eubank and Benn, fans have also been entertained by the bickering between Eubank and Hearn. Eubank has slammed Hearn for including a rehydration clause into his contract – and one that prevented him saying anything negative about promoters.

In their spat at the press conference, Eubank interupted Hearn by saying: “Eddie, you know I don’t like you right? So what makes you think on God’s green Earth I’m going to sit here and listen to any of the b******* you’re going to say?” After Hearn insisted he would have to listen to him – and reminded him it “wasn’t the Chris Eubank show”, he replied: “This is Eubank vs Benn. You can sabotage the event and I’ll try talk to Benn directly and you can be quiet. I don’t want to hear what you have to say.”
