American singer and songwriter d4vd admitted he was left humiliated when he misjudged a backflip and landed on his face while performing at the Coachella music festival. The Modern Problems singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 20, was among the stars taking to the stage at the 2025 event on Friday.

The singer was bouncing around on stage at the annual music festival in front of a screaming audience of fans – but events took a dramatic turn when he attempted an ambitious stunt in the middle of a song. Footage has emerged of the singer racing towards a raised platform which he jumped towards with the intention of pushing himself backwards off of.

But he misjudged the stunt and ended up flipping over to land directly on his face. Proving himself a professional, however, d4vd continued with his performance – and even succeeded in performing a flip later in his set.

Taking to social media following the incident, d4vd shared footage of his mishap and his comeback. He wrote in one X post: “humiliation ritual complete… see u next week coachella i love u.”

Fans reacted to the update, writing: “we still love you king.” And another wrote: “The way you fell was so tuff.” While a further fan joked: “If i was in your situation i would run away from the stage and delete my all social media accounts.”

This weekend is the first of two weekends of live music set to take over the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, for the 2025 Coachella Music Festival. The event is headlined by Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott.

The fist weekend is currently ongoing, with all the acts set to return to perform again between April 18 and 20. Fans have already been entertained by performers including British singer Marina Diamandis, rap icon Missy Elliott and emerging music star Benson Boone.

Benson thrilled fans with a performance on Friday that included a surprise appearance from music legend Sir Brian May. Halfway through Benson’s performance, May, 77, popped up on stage, delivering his legendary guitar solo for a cover performance of the Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody.

Brian has been out of the spotlight in recent months after suffering a health scare, during which he was cared for by his wife at their countryside home – but left the audience in awe as he made his surprise appearance.

Sir Brian posted a photo with Boone to his Instagram page and wrote: “Do we look happy ? !!! Gonna treasure this moment on the plane with @bensonboone – a truly golden 22-year-old prodigy. I’m proud and happy to say we are now officially pals.”

The shock performance comes after Brian experienced a significant health scare in September 2024, sparking concern among his fans. At the time, May revealed that he had suffered a “minor stroke” a week earlier and had feared his “little health hiccup” had ended his illustrious music career.

Sharing the news with his fans on Instagram, the iconic music star said: “I’m here to bring you some good news — the good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days.

“I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke. It was a little scary, I have to say,” he added.
