The Love Island winner opened up about her failed relationships with Sammy Kimmence and fellow winner Jack Fincham, saying she ‘loved the wrong people’ but ‘doesn’t regret anything’

Dani Dyer opened up about failed relationships

Dani Dyer has opened up about her failed relationships with Sammy Kimmence and fellow Love Island winner Jack Fincham, admitting she “loved the wrong people”. The 29 year old first started to make a name for herself when she went on the hit ITV dating show Love Island in 2018, and went on to win the show with her then-boyfriend Jack.

After splitting from Jack shortly after winning Love Island, Dani dated Sammy, who she had also dated before going on the show. With Sammy, she had a son, Santiago, who was born in January 2021.

However, she and Sammy split in July that year after he was sentenced to three years in prison for orchestrating a £34k scam. Chatting with Jamie Laing on his podcast, Dani admitted that she “loved the wrong person” in the past but has no regrets from those relationships.

Speaking about her time with Sammy, she said she “shouldn’t have gone back there”. She said: “Before Love Island he never wanted to settle down with me, he was a massive player, I shouldn’t have gone back there,” she said. “I don’t regret anything… having Santi changed me as a person so I’m so glad I had my Sant.”

She added that she and Sammy were being “very civil” for the benefit of their son, because they never wanted him to feel “uncomfortable” because of them.

Dani now has two other children – twins Summer and Star – with her husband Jarrod Bowen. She said she sometimes feels “guilty” that her son has broken up parents.

“He is never going to know his mum and dad being together, I always feel guilty because when Jarrod walks through the door the twins say ‘Daddy, daddy’ and Santi doesn’t have that.”

Elsewhere, Dani admitted that she never visited Sammy whilst he was in prison and felt she was naive for never asking about what he was doing. “I just loved the wrong person and I didn’t want to say anything that Santi was going to see so I stayed silent.”

Reflecting on her relationship with Jack, she said that “genuinely thought [she’d] met the one” but that they wanted different things. She wanted to stay home and cook, whilst Jack wanted to go out. “We just weren’t compatible on the outside world.”
