Football icon David Beckham has kicked off his 50th birthday celebrations as he shared a gushing tribute to his family despite the rumoured fallout with son Brooklyn
David Beckham said he felt “blessed” as he turned 50. In a heartfelt post, the football legend thanked his family, calling them his “biggest accomplishment”, including wife Victoria and their four children, as birthday wishes flooded it from his A-list pals.
He also looked back at his illustrious career, which saw him captain Manchester United and England. A reflective Becks posted: “I’m very grateful for many things in my life.
“The teams I’ve played for, my team mates , managers , the fans , MY COUNTRY and being England captain, the children I have met over different charities I work with , my team in my business & the friends I have around me I feel truly blessed.”
He continued: “But my biggest accomplishment is and will always be my family, my mum and dad who sacrificed so much for me to live my dream of becoming a footballer, my sisters who had to put up with following their brother around in the freezing cold watching me play football and my amazing nan and grandad.”
Paying tribute to his Spice Girl wife and their children, he went on: “My wife and best friend of 28 years and my beautiful children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz & Harper you are the reason I get out of bed each day thank you for making me smile and thank you for making me a better man…
“I love you all so much and thank you for making today so special for me… You are my world.”
Victoria, 51, echoed the sentiments, posting a montage of photos and videos of the star spanning from childhood to current times.
She wrote: “When I look at this video, I think, ‘Wow… how lucky am I!’ You’re everything I could have dreamed of and more. Happy 50th @davidbeckham! I love you and our beautiful family endlessly. You complete me.”
Son Romeo posted a picture of him and his dad pouting, with the caption: “Happy birthday to the most amazing role model, love you so so much.”
Cruz also sent his wishes to his dad with an Instagram post – but Brooklyn remaining silent on social media and rumours of a family feud continued to rumble.
Beckham’s Man Utd teammates Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville posted their birthday wishes, as did current England stars Jude Bellingham and Kyle Walker.
Victoria’s bandmates all added their tributes to the star, as did chef Gordon Ramsay, a good pal of David’s.
He is expected to celebrate his big milestone birthday with a party at plush restaurant Core by Claire Smyth in Kensington, west London, this weekend.
