Father of two Ali Salih Abdalaah, 36, was beaten to death on his doorstep by thugs Dale Berry-Parkes and Hardi Hamad on October 22, Birmingham Crown Court was told

Two young children have been left fatherless after their dad was beaten to death in a “horrific and senseless attack” on his doorstep.

Dale Berry-Parkes, 32, and 35-year-old Hardi Hamad attacked Ali Salih Abdalaah outside his Birmingham flat in October 2022. Afterwards, the pair were seen walking out the flat block and drove off in two cars which were recovered days later. The two men were arrested after handing themselves in to police.

West Midlands Police revealed Ali had visited a shop on Soho Road before meeting a woman, whom he took back to his flat shortly afterwards at around 6.20am on October 8, 2022. Around 9am, the woman called Hamad and Berry-Parkes claiming she had been sexually assaulted.

After a three week trial Berry-Parkes was convicted of manslaughter while Hamad pleaded guilty to manslaughter with diminished responsibility. Both will be sentenced at a later date.

In tribute to Ali, his family said: “Our lives have been shattered. As a family and community particularly his young children, we are all devastated by his death which has changed our children’s lives forever. Ali was a very hard working, happy and kind man. He was a loving father who dedicated his life to his children. He loved to work within the community, volunteering to help those less fortunate than himself. “

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, from the Homicide Unit, added: “Two children have been left without a father due to the appalling actions of Hamad and Berry-Parkes. The men launched a horrific senseless attack on Mr Abdalaah on the doorstep of his home. “I hope this conviction brings some closure to Ali’s family following their tragic loss. Our thoughts remain with them.”
