Dick and Angel Strawbridge are desperate to get back on TV after their previous show axe, it has been reported. The coupe first rose to fame when they starred on Escape To The Chateau but the final series was aired by Channel 4 back in 2022 and later axed in 2023.

The programme followed the pair renovating the chateau that they purchased for £280,000 in 2015 as they turned it into a luxury wedding venue, now worth £2million.

It seems that Angel and Dick are keen to get back on our screens as they have allegedly funded their own four-part series. It is currently unknown when the new programme will hit our TVs or what channel it might be on.

The original show aired for six years but this came to an end as Channel 4 got rid of the show after a reported behind-the-scenes fallout, which involved bullying allegations.

The channel said it would no longer be working with Angel and Dick on any upcoming productions after an inquiry into conduct while filming. One investigation found a recording of Angel where she was heard speaking rudely to a production executive.

The Daily Mail have now reported that the couple are producing their own series which they have allegedly funded themselves. This comes after they denied the allegations against them.

A source has claimed: “Dick and Angel had a number of development meetings with ITV about bringing their series back; they really hoped that they could make them see the appeal. They really tried hard. There were several conversations and there was much hope there, but in the end ITV bosses decided against it.

“It was thought it was to do with their past behaviour at Channel 4. It was exasperating for them but they were determined to keep going and find a way back into the showbiz world.”

Dick and Angel are said to not be bothered if the series airs in the UK and wouldn’t mind it being aired in France instead. They have reportedly been discussing the project at the Mipcom Cannes television event this week.

It has been said that the pair have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on the four-part series, which they now need to sell. A source said: “Obviously they need to get their money back but, more than that, they are desperate to be back on the TV even if it’s not in the UK. They have produced and directed four episodes with their own money and are in France trying to sell it to international television stations. Who knows if Escape To The Chateau could end up being screened in somewhere like Armenia!”

Escape To The Chateau aired 50 episodes over nine seasons, between 2016 and 2022 and went on to produce a homewares line.

Despite creating their own new show, Dick and Angel said that they were glad they no longer have the cameras in their lives.

The two of them would appear on the iconic programme with their children, Arthur, now 12 and Dorothy, 11. Dick also has two older children, James and Charlotte, from a previous marriage who sometimes also featured in the show.
