President-elect Donald Trump revealed that “appropriate action” would be taken if Prince Harry lied on his visa application, adding that the Duke didn’t have any “special privileges”
Donald Trump threatened to deport Prince Harry during his election campaign, hinting that the Duke of Sussex didn’t have any “special privileges” – and we want to know if you think he’ll go through with it..
The president-elect’s criticism of the prince came after Harry confessed to using drugs in his bombshell memoir Spare, including cocaine, cannabis and magic mushrooms. In his book, Harry revealed that cocaine “didn’t do anything for me”, but admitted: “Marijuana is different, that actually really did help me.”
In US law, previous drug use could be a reason to reject a visa application, and disclosing such use in the visa application is required. Speaking on GB News with Nigel Farage, the host asked if Harry would be handed any “special privileges”, to which Trump responded with “No.”
He added: “We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied, they’ll have to take appropriate action.” Farage responded: “Appropriate action? Which might mean…not staying in America?” To which Trump said: “Oh I don’t know. You’ll have to tell me. You just have to tell me. You would have thought they would have known this a long time ago.”
The new president previously slammed the Sussexes for “breaking Queen Elizabeth’s heart” after stepping down from royal duties in 2020. He fumed: “I think there was great disrespect to a person I got to know very well and like; the Queen.”
What’s more, Harry has been embroiled in a feud with conservative think tank Heritage Foundation who have called for the Duke’s visa documents to be made public after its attempts were blocked by the Biden government. Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom believes there is a “strong possibility” that they will be able to appeal the decision.
Questions were raised over Harry’s visa after he admitted to taking drugs recreationally which would have had to have been disclosed in an application and could lead to it being turned down, it is claimed. Gardiner told the Mail: “Also the new Homeland Security Secretary could order a review of Harry’s immigration application.
“There are multiple things that could happen but it would be in the best interests of the American people if the Trump administration releases Prince Harry’s records for public scrutiny and Harry should be held to account.” He also told GB News it would be a “criminal offence” if he did lie on his application, adding: “He would be subject to deportation from the United States.”
When asked where he would go, he replied: “Canada is the most likely destination I would have thought.” However, sources have suggested the pair have been making “desperate” attempts to offer an olive branch to their estranged family members following the presidential election.
