Kai Havertz endured a difficult evening as Arsenal saw their FA Cup journey ended at the third round by Manchester United and he has been sent a ruthless message after his performance

Kai Havertz was at the heart of a brutal tweet from Dominos after proving the villain against Manchester United.

The German started for Arsenal in their FA Cup defeat at the hands of the Red Devils. He missed a host of chances for the Gunners – one opportunity in the second half being lifted over the bar by Havertz.

He then proved costly in the resultant penalty shootout after seeing his spot-kick saved by Altay Bayindir. And pizza restaurant Dominos have taken aim at the German in the aftermath. Sharing an image of Havertz, they wrote: “Sorry if we’ve missed any orders tonight, we’ve just had this guy start…”

In Havertz’ defence, he was not the only one guilty of spurning gilt-edged chances throughout the game. But Mikel Arteta refuses to lay blame at any individual’s feet – instead focusing on the amount of opportunities his side managed to create against United.

Speaking after the defeat, he said: “It’s unbelievable. Obviously, you measure the performance and what we did in relation to the position, you-know, you deserve to win the game by a mile. But the reality is we are out and the only thing that’s going to be judged it that but internally I can’t.

“I love my players. I love our team and I love how good they are and what they do because in 1000 games, you should loose one and probably it was this one. You have to understand this as well, it’s part of our industry, our game and move on because you don’t have time to do that because on Wednesday we have a massive one.”

He added: “It’s football and it is a part of that execution, you need things to go your way and tonight it didn’t. When you go to penalties you know that it’s a flick of the coin and it can go either way.

“It’s an incredible team. I’m so proud of my players. I love my players and I cannot be prouder because it’s very difficult to demand something else than the performance that they put in there. The ball has to go in the net and then you have to batter the opponent, that’s the reality.”

Arsenal will hope that Havertz rediscovers his goalscoring boots this coming week as they take on Tottenham before a clash with Aston Villa. One man who looks set to miss those games is Gabriel Jesus after he was stretchered off against Man United.
