Dunelm shoppers have found an affordable way to add “permanent colour” to their outdoor spaces. With the summer fast approaching, people are in search of something to enhance their garden – and this could spare you having to invest in a full makeover.

The Petunia Plant in Hanging Basket is currently selling for £15 on the Dunelm website. They claim that this “realistic looking” decoration will help “brighten up your outdoor space” with its colourful arrangement of petunias that require no mainataince whatsoever.

It added: “This piece is perfect for uplifting the appearance of your home with none of the maintenance of a real plant. Complete with basket and modern chain attachment, this plant is ready to be installed when purchased.”

The basket has a mixture of purple and pink ‘flowers’ that add a splash of colour. Dunelm says they’d look perfect on a garden fence or wall – or used to give your front door a welcoming look that’s perfect for summer.

Many of the people who already bought this item shared five-star reviews on the Dunelm website. From the dozens of reviews, the flowers have scored an almost flawless 4.8 stars out of 5 on average.

One said: “Lovely, bright and cheerful – just the right size too. Realistic-looking and good value for money.” Another added: “I bought three and they look lovely at the front of my bungalow. They dont look cheap at all. I’m very pleased with them.”

A third wrote: “Lovely outside the front of the house. A great price, looks more expensive too.” Someone else posted: “Beautiful, colourful and doesn’t look artificial in the slightest.” A fifth added: “Adds permanent colour. No watering, and ideal for someone like me with mobility difficulties.”

But, not everyone was happy. Despite the reviews never dropping below three stars, one claimed: “Lovely little cones but the flowers do look a bit cheap when close up and don’t think it will last long.”

Another said: “Bought for my mother, she can no longer maintain real flowers. I was disappointed with lack of stems. I had to buy more to fill it out, otherwise I was happy.”

Dunelm has plenty of other artifical options if the Petunia Plant doesn’t match the theme of your garden. They have this stunning tropical plant that’s ‘rarely seen in the UK’ for £20 and this ‘pretty’ £10 flower basket ‘perfect for the front door’.

If none of these are taking your fancy, other shops have similar alternatives. You could go for a traditional-looking Artificial 10-inch Lavender Hanging Basket for £19.99 on Amazon – which comes in five different colours. Or, at B&Q, the £26 Smart Garden Pansy could help add a little greenery to your space. It has a rounded wicker basket like the Amazon option, and measures about the same size.
