The leading haircare giant has announced its best hair tool for styling and drying with a faster motor and lighter attachments

The new Dyson Airwrap is set to dry hair faster with its new motor

Dyson’s most awarded hair styler is getting an upgrade later this year, launching Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler and dryer with new motor that “spins nine times faster than a Formula 1 car engine”.

The new Airwrap, available in both Jasper Plum and Ceramic Pink, makes a styling routine easier while protecting hair from heat damage. The tool is embedded with smart sensor technology including an RFID chip in each attachment to instantly adapt to the best temperature and airflow settings.

The new Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler and dryer, priced at £579.99, will be made available to purchase in September and shoppers can sign up here to receive a notification when it becomes ready for sale.

Set to launch this September in Ceramic Pink and Jasper Plum colourways, consumers will have the option to choose sets designed specifically for either Straight+Wavy or Curly+Coily hair types, each set including six premium attachments and presented in a Dyson-designed case

For the Curly + Coily set, shoppers will recieve a 40mm Co-anda2x curling barrel, anti-snag loop brush 2x, round volumising brush 2x, tension comb 2x, Wave+Curl diffuser 2x and fast dryer 2x.

The new and improved motor shortens the time required to curl and it’s faster to create tight, voluminous and loose curls with 30% more product power and two times more air pressure. The new anti-snag loop brush has new hook bristles mean for increased control nearer the root while providing comfort on the scalp.

All the attachments have been upgraded to fit for the improved motor

To straighten hair, shoppers can use the AirSmooth 2x attachment – two non-heated contact bars with two jets of high velocity air to create a hair straightening effect with less frizz. When a full tress pass is completed, the arms automatically unclamp to release hair.

The trailer video has quickly drawn fans’ attention as one view guessed: “Oh looks like a blow dryer, a new smooth brush, round brush, curler… and is that a straightener attachment?”

Another joked: “I mean, three months ago I bought the Airstrait, I also own Airwrap and Supersonic, please stop, I have no more place in my flat.”

Meanwhile, those who want to spend less on a Dyson hair tool can look at the brand’s Refurbished section online. The refurbished Dyson Airwrap with complete long volumise has been marked down from £399.99 to £349.99.

Undoubtedly a Dyson hair tool is an investment, I bought the first generation Dyson airwrap five years ago and it’s been performing amazingly. I was particularly impressed by the curling barrels, they attract the hair like a magnet and the curls stay for days.

But for a more budget option, ghd’s new triple barrel hair waver, Wave, is an easy tool to achieve loose beach waves that turn heads, costing £159. However, this doesn’t dry the hair and can only be used as a styling tool.

Bellissima’s Prodigy Air Styler, £249.99, is relatively cheaper than the Dyson. The curling barrels also feature Coanda Technology while the Ion Technology helps keep hair hydrated.

Sir James Dyson, founder and Chief Engineer of Dyson said: “Dyson has developed a new motor for our new Airwrap2x, which spins at 150,000rpm, delivering twice the air pressure, faster drying and less heat damage.

“The high pressure creates a longer lasting curl or straighter styles. Traditional stylers can damage hair, but we have always focused on developing tools that protect hair health whilst enhancing without compromising precision and or performance. We harness our expertise in motors, fluid dynamics, and materials to continually improve.”
