The new Dyson vacuum is now £50 off and is ideal for cleaning stubborn mud, dirt and pet hair from inside a car, van or caravan

Dyson has launched a handheld vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning cars that’s said to be ‘spot on’ and is already on sale. Shoppers can get the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum cleaner for £199.99, down £50 from the original £249.99 price tag.

The device is touted as the ‘most powerful handheld vacuum’ on the market and has been specifically designed for deep cleaning of cars, vans, boats and other awkward spaces. This makes it ideal for removing mud and pet hair from a car’s upholstery, boot or under the seats.

The compact and lightweight vacuum can run for up to 50 minutes on a single charge without fading suction. It comes with three tools that make it easier to clean in tricky nooks and crannies such as car footwells, with a mini motorised tool to deep clean fabrics, a crevice tool for narrow areas and a combination tool for switching between tasks.

It’s not just for the car though, as Dyson also engineered the vacuum for homes with pets. The vacuum is able to tackle stubborn dirt, hair, debris and dust on carpet or hard floors, as well as picking up particles as small as allergens.

It comes as Shark has knocked £20 off the Classic Handheld Pet Vacuum in its spring clean sale, reducing it to £59.99 from £79.99. It’s also worth considering standard vacuum cleaners as many of these come with accessories that convert them to a handheld model, including Amazon’s £129.99 Smoture Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.

The Dyson Car+Boat has already racked up a 4.5-star rating after 40 reviews, 36 of which are four or five stars. Shoppers have said the gadget is ‘spot on’ and has made their lives ‘much easier’.

One happy customer said: “Great product that has made my life much easier. With two dogs to walk everyday, at this time of year my car gets covered with mud. This handheld vacuum, which is light and easy to use, has a great brush attachment which gets off the mud (and dog hairs) and the nozzle lets you get into the gaps between the seats which are normally inaccessible. I no longer have to be embarrassed about the state of my car and the dogs also love it as they can jump in without being shouted at.”

Another said: “Great suction, car rugs all done in minutes. As you can expect from Dyson, the suction is brilliant. It easily cleaned the rugs in my very muddy Defender. The attachments were light and easy to switch out, I found the larger, wider attachment the best for the carpet mats and the brush smaller head better for the smaller areas. Barely went over the rug twice and it was done. It is light to wield and comfortable in one hand.”

A third satisfied shopper said: “Spot on for spotless. I’ve used it in the car and it was excellent to pick up all the bits. It worked better with the brush mechanism for most things but got into corners with the long bit. It seems powerful enough and the battery lasted the full length of my clean with some spare.”

However, not everyone is impressed, as one user found the battery ran out quickly when vacuuming on the highest suction level. They said: “The higher level is very powerful. The dirt is sucked up straight away. Unfortunately, the battery runs out quickly. I couldn’t even vacuum for 10 minutes and it was already empty.”

The Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum cleaner is available direct from Dyson for £199.99.
