The wet-to-dry styler has made my hair routine a whole lot simpler
Dyson has stepped up its game in recent years and last year the leading technology brand launched the AirStrait in the UK. Since its release, the AirStraight has been a game-changer for many shoppers. Last month, Dyson launched two limited-edition colours of the item – and I fell in love with the Jasper Plum colourway.
Designed to save time and simplify hair routines, the air-powered tool straightens hair beautifully and is as easy to use as a straightener, but without any heat damage. Unlike the Airwrap, the AirStrait comes with an LCD screen that indicates the airflow and temperature settings, as well as languages.
The sleek design and pastel metal colours are very premium compared to other rival brands such as GHD Duet Style, currently reduced to £289.45 on Amazon, and the language setup gives a touch of personalisation despite not having every language available.

In the past, I had to switch off a hair tool to change or add a styling attachment but with the Dyson AirStrait, I simply need to unlock the arms after drying my hair or I can dry and straigthen my tresses using the wet mode.
My hair type is medium fine with natural curls and I found the AirStraight working the best on the 140C setting to dry and straighten – a single pass gave me glossy, straight hair. Beauty lovers who own a hair straightener will know that feeling when the plates make a sizzling sound. This didn’t happen with AirStrait.
It’s also a great tool when you want to change your hairstyle in five minutes. When swapped to Dry Mode, it turned my curls into sleek, straight locks. I also owned a Shark FlexStyle and found the AirStrait more quiet to use and after three seconds of inactivity, it automatically pauses.
However, I encountered an issue with the new PRCD plug (portable residual current device). It is engineered to put key electronic elements to the plug and remove weight and bulk from the machine itself. As instructed, I had to test the electrical current for safety, the ‘Test and Reset’ sticker diagram was confusing and it broke on my second use. Luckily I was able to exchange a new device and it has been working perfectly.
Since having the AirStrait, I have not been reaching for my FlexStyle or hair straighteners except. But for a curly hair look, I recommend the Bellissima Italia Glam Waves Hair Wand, which is reduced from £129.99 to £79.99.
The Dyson AirStrait is currently on promotion with a £70 saving on the Strawberry Bronze/Blush Pink special edition, dropping from £449.99 to £379.99. The original Blue/Copper and my Jasper Plum colours are at original price, £449.99.
Youu can consider GHD DuetStyle for almost half the price; or Bellissima Italia’s AirSleek, which retails at £149.99 at Boots – read our review of this here.
