Christmas is a time for cheer, and what better way to spread joy than by playing games with your loved ones? This unique red solo cup game will prove a hit with everyone and is easy to pick up
If you’re looking for a perfect Christmas party game to be enjoyed by all the family, look no further.
In just a few days, many of us will be gathering with our extended families for a day of presents, food, drinks and games. But finding the perfect activities to keep everyone occupied while also managing logistics, cooking and inevitable arguments can be difficult.
In a bid to lighten the burden, the @lightthelights.official Instagram page has shared a selection of fun games everyone can play over the holiday season. One involves red solo cups and party favours and has simple rules, so anyone can get involved.
“Christmas party games ideas,” it said. It then showed someone placing mini bottles of spirits, socks, lottery tickets, chocolates and other festive gifts into red solo cups. “Add any prizes you like to party cups,” the video said.
“Use a ping pong ball or beer pong ball to bounce into a cup to win the prize,” it continued. The clip then went on to show family members trying their hand at the game, bagging themselves various items by aiming the ball at the cups.
Another game requires a collection of Christmas present bows, a bowl and a spatula. To win the game, blindfolded participants must scoop as many bows into the bowl as possible. “We played whoever got the least bows in the bowl in 30 seconds has a forfeit.”
In a third game, players attempt to push pompoms off the bottom of cups by blowing party blowers at them. “I know how much CHRISTMAS PEOPLE love a good game,” the caption said.
People were quick to comment on the clip, with one person writing: “Oh this is also a great game for Xmas Eve.” Another added: “I got the ping pong balls and indoor snowballs. Let the fun begin.”
Meanwhile a third added: “This would be good but it’d be a fortune,” followed by two laughing emojis. “Cute idea. Just shopping for gifts will be enough $ for this year,” said another.
Games aren’t the only crucial part of Christmas that people will be looking forward to over the next few days. Lots of us will be tucking into festive foods, with turkey taking centre stage on most people’s tables.
But one Mirror writer shared their experience eating a less traditional centrepiece. Ketsuda Phoutinane tried out a festive turducken, comprising of five different meats stuffed inside one another.
“Turducken is a perfect portmanteau: turkey, duck and chicken combined together and cooked as one,” Phoutinane wrote. “Why not stop there? James Alexander Fine Foods’ five-bird roast takes it even further by squeezing in partridge and pheasant with pancetta on top.
“The price tag begins at £149 for one that feeds 7-8 people, all the way up to £224 for a 16-person roast.” However, the roast didn’t turn out to be a hit on this occasion.
“As I cooked this on a weeknight, it’s late and I’m ready to throw in the towel by the time everything is ready. Although I’m no fan of James Alexander’s five-bird roast, too many animals died for me to throw it away.
“Even so, I can’t bring myself to eat more pheasant and partridge. In round two, the drippings make for a lush gravy to rehydrate the chicken, turkey and duck. This is fine, but it would have been a hell of a lot nicer to just eat a homemade roast chicken.”
