The escargot-inspired creation even comes with crunchy pieces of sugar to mimic a shell, taking its cues from Parisian bistros
easyJet has unveiled a snail and garlic-infused ice cream
The airline’s latest escargot-inspired creation is complete with crunchy sugar bits to mimic a shell, taking inspiration from the chic eateries of Paris. This very unusual treat is part of a new collection of five daring ice cream flavours created to mark the opening of easyJet and easyJet holidays’ new base at London Southend.
Each flavour is a nod to one of the exciting destinations now accessible from the airport. For example, for those who fancy a taste of North Africa, there’s ‘Spicy Tagine,’ bursting with apricots and aromatic Moroccan spices, sure to whisk you away to the bustling souks.
Italian cuisine lovers can try the ‘Cacio e Pepe’ ice cream, a zesty mix of lemon, parmesan cheese, and a kick of black pepper, inspired by the city of Pisa. If you’re dreaming of Spanish shores, the ‘Sangria and Chocolate’ option combines the fruity notes of sangria with decadent chocolate, evoking the vibrant scenes of Alicante, Malaga, and Tenerife.
Lastly, the ‘Pastel de Nata’ flavour transforms Portugal’s beloved custard tart into a creamy, luxurious ice cream delight. Travellers flying from the airport will have the opportunity to sample these unique ice creams for a limited amount of time.
Garry Wilson, easyJet holidays CEO, said: “Southend is synonymous with ice-cream, and what better way to celebrate our newest base than with something that for many also represents the joy of holidays, by offering customers a literal taste of their next trip.
“With flights and package holidays now available to 20 destinations from London Southend, this will not only enable us to serve many more customers, providing value and more choice, but also supports critical connectivity and jobs for the UK, as we get set for our biggest ever summer.”
EasyJet’s latest expansion at London Southend Airport has seen the introduction of three A320neo aircrafts, creating approximately 1,200 jobs in the region, with 140 of those being direct roles for pilots and cabin crew.
The budget airline is ramping up its operations with 122 weekly flights across 20 routes from Southend, marking a whopping 133% increase from last summer’s figures. With the new base in operation, over 330,000 seats are up for grabs for travellers planning their sunny escapes.
Marking its 10th UK base, easyJet has opened doors at London Southend following the successful launch at Birmingham International Airport last year, catering to the growing demand for air travel and holiday packages.
As part of their grand plan for the largest summer season yet, easyJet and its holiday arm is gearing up with seven additional aircraft joining the UK fleet from various hubs including Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, and London Southend.
It was aiming to offer an extra half a million seats to destinations throughout Europe and North Africa.
