Hitmaker Ed Sheeran spent an afternoon with the personnel of the British military base in Cyprus, signing autographs and taking selfies, then treated the troops to an acoustic show

Ed Sheeran met the real A-team when he treated British troops and their families to an intimate show.

The Thinking Out Loud and Perfect singer put on a special performance at the Dhekelia garrison in Cyprus. Ed, 33, was on the island for the final two shows of his Mathematics tour but was keen to meet service personnel and their families. He spent the afternoon speaking with soldiers, signing autographs, taking selfies and sharing stories.

The audience were then treated to a medley of acoustic hits. Lieutenant Colonel Colin Oliver said: “It was an absolute privilege to host Ed and to have him here spending time with the fantastic people who make up British Forces Cyprus.

“These men and women sacrifice a lot, and we’re hugely grateful to Ed and the British Forces Foundation team for making the time.”

British Forces Foundation director Mark Cann added: “For Ed to give his time and exceptional talent for four hours between two shows was an extraordinary gesture that made an incredible impact – he’s the best.”

Earlier this year, Ed played a private gig for the England Euro 2024 football squad at their base in Germany.

Players including Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham were seen enjoying Ed’s rendition of The A Team.
