Actress Elisabeth Moss has confirmed she’s welcomed her first child – over a year after announcing that she was pregnant and gave a rare insight into her new life

Elisabeth Moss has revealed she’s welcomed her first child admitting she was “so fortunate.”

The star, 42, confirmed in January 2024 that she was pregnant but has remained tightlipped on her journey to motherhood ever since. Now, she has opened up in a red carpet interview, confirming she’s given birth but has not disclosed who the father of her child is.

She confirmed that she gave birth during a red carpet interview at the 2025 PaleyFest LA. The star also told People that she frequently brings her child on set whilst she’s working.

Revealing how grateful she is, she said: “so many parents cannot. So that’s what we always say. Any of us who had the privilege of being able to bring out kids or see our kids at work, we would every single time be like, “Aren’t we lucky to get to do that?”

The Handmaid’s Tale actress confirmed her pregnancy in January 2024. She made the announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, putting an end to the rumours that had been sparked, around the time, when she was spotted on set with what looked like a baby bump. During her chat with Jimmy Kimmel, the host asked her directly if she was pregnant or just a very dedicated method actor.

“A little bit of both,” she replied, adding that things were going “Not bad, actually. I’ve been really lucky. It’s been going really well.” Elisabeth also asked host Jimmy for parenting advice. He shared a tip from comedian Bill Murray: “He said bring Christmas lights to hang up [in the delivery room]. Because the lighting is terrible in the room. It’s Walmart-style lighting for this blessed event that’s going to happen and you don’t want that.”

“I think that’s a really good list, I like that,” she responded. Moss has previously expressed her desire to have children, inspired by her mum Linda. “I definitely want to have kids because I’ve been very inspired by the kind of mother my mom is. She did a beautiful thing with me,” she told the Daily Mail.

Elisabeth tends to keep her personal life private, so not much is known about her due date or the identity of the father, and that remains the case. Elisabeth now, 42, was previously unsure about having children. “It’s not for everybody, and I didn’t know if it was going to be for me, but lately, I think it is,” she confessed back in 2018.
