Police have stormed a street in Greater Manchester after reports of a dog attack this afternoon.

Several police cars, two ambulances and an air ambulance were spotted by witnesses responding to an incident in Sale at around 3.35pm. Police confirmed that the incident involved one dog attacking another., which lead to a man falling over.

An eyewitnesses said they saw a “large dog” pulling its owner over and “dragging” him along the floor. The dog had attacked an “elderly lady’s small dog” on the other side of the road.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told the Manchester Evening News: “At 3:20pm this afternoon we were called to reports of concern for welfare of a man on Washway Road in Sale.

“Initial enquiries suggest that a dog has attacked another dog, and as a result, a man has fallen over. His injuries are thankfully not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

“The dog that was attacked has been taken to the vets for further treatment. The offending dog has been contained and seized by police.”

They added that armed police were also in attendance as a precaution and there is no risk to the wider public.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service added: “An ambulance crew and senior paramedic attended an incident following a 999 call at 15.24, reporting that a person had been attacked by a dog.

“A male patient received treatment at the scene before being transported to hospital.”
