An expert has shared the one task that air fryer owners ‘must’ carry out before Christmas, as the kitchen appliance is set to be in high demand

It’s no secret that air fryers have plenty of great benefits that are being discovered by an increasing number of people daily.

They often provide a faster, healthier, and more energy-efficient method of preparing meals, which explains their soaring popularity in recent years.

The convenience of air fryers has led many to abandon their traditional ovens, a trend that becomes even more noticeable during the festive season when food preparation is at its peak. Whether you’re using your air fryer to cook roast potatoes, pigs in blankets or even a Christmas dessert, there’s one crucial task you shouldn’t neglect with your appliance before the holiday season.

This advice comes from Nancy Emery, a cleaning expert at Tap Warehouse, who has revealed the chores that households should not ignore in the lead-up to Christmas.

It may be one of the most procrastinated household tasks, but it’s worth giving your air fryer a thorough clean before the Christmas rush, particularly if you’re expecting dinner guests.

This is vital for maintaining its efficiency and ensuring your food doesn’t end up tasting off. Air fryer baskets should ideally be cleaned after each use, and this becomes even more critical during Christmas when more meals are being prepared and the risk of cross-contamination increases.

To clean your air fryer, first, switch it off at the plug. Then, use a kitchen towel to wipe around the basket to prevent grease from going straight down the drain and causing blockages, as reported by the Express.

Start by filling your kitchen sink with hot, soapy water and immerse the removable basket and tray to soak.

Next, grab a soft dish sponge and scrub both parts, ensuring all grime is removed.

Once both components are spotless, rinse them off and place them on the dish rack to dry.

Lastly, take a clean microfibre cloth, soak it in warm water, wring it out and wipe around the inside of the air fryer where the basket sits. Be sure to gently clean the heating element after confirming it’s completely cool.

Then your air fryer will be spick and span, ready for use throughout the festive season.
