A popular US bakery chain has suddenly shut all of its UK stores, leaving foodies devastated. Brits are known to be partial to a sweet treat and there are many bakery and dessert chains across the UK.

Cinnabon, the American company launched in Washington best known for its rich cinnamon buns, closed all 12 of its UK stores this week. It has disappeared from major cities across Britain less than five years after its arrival. Many food-lovers have been saddened by this news, including content creator Angelina Perello-Javar. She is recognised for her food and drink reviews and has amassed 55 million likes on TikTok.

In one of her latest TikTok videCinnabon really is closing all of its UK stores by taking a trip to Westfield London.

Sharing her sadness, she said: “This is definitely the worst news I’ve heard this week. When I tell you Cinnabon, they do the best buns in the entire world and I’ve tried a lot of buns in my life.”

Angelina wandered through the shopping centre to find Cinnabon after failing to locate it on one of the interactive screens.

As she approached the kiosk, she came to the realisation that it actually was closed after seeing that there were no staff working there, no products on display and no customers.

Heading closer to the kiosk, the food reviewer remarked: “It’s empty. Can we please just get a moment of silence please for Cinnabon right now because I am actually grieving.”

Angelina was in shock and disbelief that Cinnabon had closed down. She ended: “Yeah guys, currently I’m in a state of mourning. I put my hood up and I just…thanks to the Cinnabon gods for at least having them in the UK.”

The TikTok clip has garnered 370,300 views, 32,300 likes and more than 300 comments, so far.

A fellow Cinnabon fan commented: “Yeah me too, actually crashed out when I heard the news.”

Another said: “This is worse than heartbreak,” while a third shared: “I went to Bullring yesterday just for Cinnabon and it’s empty.”

Others left comments such as “What? I’m in mourning”, “This is devastating” and “They didn’t even warn us they’re closing.”

Cinnabon launched in the UK in December 2020 and had branches in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Edinburgh.

EG On the Move, the company that brought Cinnabon to the UK through a partnership, announced it has taken the “strategic decision” to close all of its outlets, the Daily Express reported.

In a statement, the company said: “EG On the Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK.

“This was not a decision taken lightly, but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business. This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers.”

Although Cinnabon will no longer be available in the UK, TikTok users on Angelina’s post shared recommendations of other places foodies can go in the UK to get their Cinnamon fix.

One said: “Guys if u want Cinnabon and you’re in Leeds, UK go to Cinnaful it’s amazing and better than Cinnabon.”

A second suggested: “If you’re local to Manchester just go to Rollers, they’re so much nicer.” Someone else recommended buying the Tesco cinnamon buns and warming them up for 40 seconds.
