The supermarket said that gamers will have the chance to pick up a console if they were unable to pre-order
The next generation of Nintendo’s flagship console will hit store shelves on June 5. Shoppers and gamers who struggled to arrange a pre-order in time might have luck at an unlikely store—their local Asda supermarket.
The original Nintendo Switch was released back in 2017 to replace the Wii U system. Now, eight years on, fans will get the long-awaited upgrade in the form of the Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming console has a bigger screen, new games and more built-in features.
Fans have reported that pre-ordering has been a struggle, leading some to have to take their chances and wait for stores to offer consoles for general sale. Asda might be a good place for Nintendo gamers to secure the console, which is undoubtedly going to be popular.
The supermarket announced that it would be offering the Mario Kart World Bundle for £429.98 from launch day. The new Mario Kart World is an exclusive Switch 2 title that is filled with the same hilarious racing mayhem that fans of the franchise have come to know and love.
The console will be available online at George.com once stock arrives in-store. Alternatively, shop the console bundle in selected Asda locations (listed below) from Thursday, June 5, while stocks last.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch this week. Elsewhere, Amazon UK has restocked pre-orders, so you can snag yours before June 5. As it stands, the retailer is offering the base unit for £395.99. However, the bundle that comes with a digital code for Mario Kart World is still out of stock.
It comes as UK retailer GAME has acknowledged that it has cancelled several online pre-orders for the Switch 2. Taking to social media, GAME said: “We understand how disappointing this is, especially for those who have been eagerly awaiting their order.”
On the official Nintendo website, the Nintendo Switch 2 can be pre-ordered by Nintendo Switch Online members for £395.99. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle costs more at £429.99.
