Gemma Collins has revealed she was asked to star in the US version of The Traitors, which will see a string of celebrities across the pond try and work out who is lying

Reality TV legend Gemma Collins has revealed that she gave ‘The Traitors US’ a miss despite bosses rolling out the red carpet for her appearance.

The Essex icon, known for her ‘TOWIE’ fame, confessed to the Daily Star’s Hot TV that she was already booked up, saying: “I got asked to do ‘ The Traitors ‘ last series. But I couldn’t do it because I was working on something else.” Gemma didn’t shut the door on future telly gigs and added: “When it comes to TV shows, if they ring me and they say, ‘Do you want to do this? ‘ then I’ll either say yes or no.”

But those who want to see more of Gemma on screen need not worry as The GC maintains an open stance towards incoming offers, stating: “Whatever the universe is going to bring me … it’s all good.” Amidst the buzz of a ‘Celebrity Traitors’ series greenlit by the BBC, Gemma hinted at her availability: “I’ve got a few things in the pipeline.”

Last month’s whispers in TV circles attached Stephen Fry’s name with ‘Celebrity Traitors’, as a Sun TV Biz source disclosed: “Claudia put Stephen right at the top of celebs she’d want on ‘The Traitors’ and Stephen has made it clear he’d be game.” It’s been said that Claudia Winkleman herself is vying for Fry’s participation with the insider revealing: “Stephen is a fan of the show and Claudia was desperate for him to be in it.”

They mentioned that while the ink hasn’t dried on any deal, Fry seemed ready to jump in: “No contracts have been signed yet – but he told the show’s bosses to name a time and date and he’ll be there.” BBC chiefs are reportedly itching to get Ricky Gervais on board for the celebrity version of ‘The Traitors’.

An insider shared: “The Beeb want the creme de la creme of stars for the celeb spin-off, and they ideally have to be incredibly smart, funny, and mischievous – and that’s Ricky in three words.” They added: “Behind the scenes, big names have already expressed their interest in taking part from the moment it was revealed the new version of ‘The Traitors’ was being made. So Ricky will be in good company around the ‘Traitors’ table, but whether he takes part will probably depend on his hugely busy diary.”

It has also been unveiled that a third season of ‘The Traitors’ is in the can and set to hit screens in January, with plans for a fourth instalment as well as the star-studded edition underway.
