The teenager was shot ‘at close range’ while meeting her friend in a crowded market. Police are now on the hunt for a 20-year-old suspect, believed to be the victim’s boyfriend
A 15-year-old girl has been shot dead in a crowded market area.
The teen sadly lost her life after she was shot “at close range” while meting a friend. Police say the suspect is a 20-year-old man believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, who allegedly fled the scene and is now still at large.
The tragedy unfolded in a market in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Sunday night. According to police, the girl was shot around 8.10pm in front of a clinic, causing panic in the busy commercial area.
“Our initial inquiry says the girl had stepped out with a friend to have snacks at the D-E block market. While they were walking near a clinic, a man allegedly approached them with another friend and opened fire on her at close range,” a senior officer said, via Times of India. It comes after a man brutally killed a woman on first date and left her body parts around town.

The man is believed to have fired four rounds before fleeing. The victim bled profusely and was rushed to hospital, but later was pronounced dead.
Initial investigations indicate that the accused was in a relationship with the victim. “We are examining personal angles and possible disputes that may have led to the attack,” the officer added. “The accused has been identified.”
Investigators have further said that the friend who accompanied the girl was being treated as a key witness in the case.
The tragedy comes weeks after a young tennis star, 25, was allegedly shot dead by her dad in the kitchen of her Delhi mansion after he was mocked for ‘living off her success’.
Radhika Yadav, 25, who played national-level tennis, was cooking breakfast when her father Deepak Yadav, 49, is said to have shot her. He let off five rounds, three of which penetrated her back, according to cops.

Her uncle and cousin rushed the 25-year-old athlete to hospital, but she couldn’t be saved and was pronounced dead on arrival. After being interrogated by police, Mr Yadav confessed to the heinous crime, saying he was suffering stress and depression after being taunted by neighbours over relying on his daughter’s money.
In the weeks leading up to the murder, the father had begged her to abandon plans for her new tennis academy, but she refused. On the day of the shooting, they reportedly had an argument before the dad went for his gun.
Kuldeep Yadav, his brother and Radhika’s uncle, claims to have run upstairs from his living quarters on the ground floor to find his niece lying in her own blood. The murder weapon, a revolver, had been left in the drawing room, he added.
He said: “I saw my niece Radhika Yadav lying in the kitchen and the revolver (used in the crime) was found in the drawing room. We carried her down and rushed her to Asia Maringo Hospital in our car. But she was already gone.”
