Fans of ITV1’s Fletcher’s Family Farm have been so eager to book a break at the cottage it’s almost sold out for 2025

Us Brits are a nation of farm lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, and if we can’t get out there ourselves, we love to watch others doing it on the telly. This could explain why farming shows are enjoying a surge in popularity, with ITV1’s Fletchers’ Family Farm becoming a standout favourite among viewers.

The show chronicles the day to day ups and downs of Strictly and Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, his wife Liz and their four children on a 120-acre farm in the Peak District. Tucked away on the farm lies an 18th-century holiday retreat – Stag Cottage – that offers a chance to experience a taste of the country life, just a short distance from where the Fletcher family lives.

Now available to rent, Liz Fletcher has expressed her amazement at the “crazy response” they’ve received from fans eager to rent a newly renovated cottage. With limited availability left for 2025, fans are being urged to book a stay through Sykes Cottages while they still can.

As the second series continues to air every Sunday morning on ITV1, Liz revealed that demand for the holiday cottage has “gone above and beyond our expectations.”

During the latest episode, Kelvin said: “Like a lot of farmers we have to diversify to generate extra income to support our livestock and this year one of our most profitable streams has come from our cottage that we renovated and converted for people to stay in.”

Liz then told viewers: “Since we put the cottage up for rent as a holiday let, it has just gone crazy. We put it online for about two days, and the year literally sold out. So, we’ve now got bookings going into 2025. It’s just gone above and beyond our expectations.”

Kelvin referred to the cottage as his wife’s “baby”, joking that if he can’t find her on the farm, he knows exactly where she’ll be – “spending her time on her new obsession.”

Staycationers who aren’t lucky enough to get booked at Stag Cottage could still find an alternative nearby. Eastview in Matlock is a charming three-bed detached cottage with an impressive 4.6 out of 5 rating.

Another lovely place to stay is The Chapel at Fold Farm, a converted chapel located in the heart of a pretty Peak District village.

Stag Cottage has been garnering five-star reviews on Sykes Holiday Cottages, where it’s available for booking. Rich, a reviewer from last month, praised the property: “The cottage had everything we needed and we received fast and helpful advice and support from Liz. I’d recommend Stag Cottage as an idyllic, quiet and cosy home for anyone’s restful holiday. Nearby we found nice villages, pubs and amazing walks. Many thanks for the opportunity to enjoy your lovely home.”

Another guest in November shared their satisfaction: “It feels so homely as soon as you step inside. Very cosy and welcoming, beautifully decorated. A real gem! Very comfortable beds. We love how quiet it is. Kelvin and Liz were lovely and friendly. We would love to stay again! Thanks from Jules and Chris.”

However, one visitor was not quite so impressed with their stay in August 2023. While they couldn’t fault the cottage itself, they mentioned in their review on Last Minute Cottages “a couple of minor things.”

Expanding upon their comment they said: “Google Maps took us to the wrong farm (just down the road), so some clearer directions would be helpful. It would have been helpful to do our own laundry once or twice – so it is worth noting that there is no washing machine – a few extra kitchen utensils would have been helpful, e.g. peeler, spatula, serving/cooking spoon, more crockery.”

Most visitors struggled to find a single negative thing to say about the Fletcher’s holiday cottage. One guest was so impressed, they exclaimed: “We were totally blown away with how beautiful Stag Cottage is. Every single detail in the decor and furnishings has been thought of. Liz and Kelvin were amazing hosts, reassuring us if we needed anything we only needed to ask.”

For those interested in experiencing Stag Cottage themselves, bookings can be made through this link to Sykes Holiday Cottages. The calendar for the remainder of 2025 shows limited availability, with June and July offering plenty of options for an early summer getaway.
