Gwyneth Paltrow has shared an insight into her neighbours, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and how she plans on befriending the couple who reside in Montecitio
Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about her true feelings for Meghan Markle, after the Duchess faced harsh criticism following the release of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. The Duchess of Sussex shared her latest partnership with the streaming platform earlier this month – an eight part series, featuring a string of fames faces including Mindy Kaling and her Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, who played Dana ‘Scottie’ Scott.
Throughout the series, Meghan gave fans an insight into her favourite recipes as well as sharing rare insights into her family life with husband Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. But while Gwyneth and the Sussexes are neighbours, both Meghan and Paltrow were compared to one another due to her lifestyle brand, Goop.
Despite the comparisons, Gwyneth is paying no attention to it and even has plans to attempt to befriend the Sussexes, who in 2020, announced they would be leaving the UK for a more financially independent life in California. “I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” she said in a new interview.

The Avengers star went on to add: “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.” Gwyneth hasn’t yet seen, With Love, Meghan – but she admits that there is no competition between herself and the former actress.
When she notices the comparison between herself and other women, Gwyneth admits that she has a “strong instinct to stand up for them,” due to the “culture” they are in. “I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” she added to Vanity Fair. While many have slammed Meghan’s series, it’s believed that the Duchess has been left “devastated and hurt” by the negative reception it has received.
A source told RadarOnline: “She had truly believed that this show could catapult her to the same heights as Martha Stewart, offering a fresh start for her career and an image overhaul. Now, though, she’s feeling entirely crushed, the humiliation still fresh.
“While she was prepared for a little negativity, the overwhelming backlash has left her reeling. To everyone watching, she might appear to be putting on a brave face, especially since her show made it to the top 10 for a few days.”
But it’s believed that Meghan has been keeping herself busy with a handful of close friends she has made in her Montecito neighbourhood. Speaking to People, the Duchess said: “I have a couple of girlfriends up here – these are stay-at-home moms and working women with normal jobs, not in the public eye.
“We went from just connecting through our kids to having girls’ nights out or doing Pilates together.” Although due to her marriage cementing her as one of the most recognisable faces in the world, Meghan doesn’t hide away and work out in private. Instead, she often heads to yoga classes filled to the brim with other women.
She also revealed she has no heirs and graces about her outings to classes and often goes alone if her friends can’t make it – instantly striking up a bond with other women at the gym. Speaking about her life in Santa Barbara, the duchess said she and her family have been welcomed with open arms.
One woman was left shocked when her children befriended Archie at school, with Meghan leaving her a voicemail to arrange a playdate for their two children – despite one being in line for the British throne. Meghan said: “I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out and also to be forgiving with myself through that. It’s a learning curve.”
