Body positive and fitness influencer Isabelle has urged her followers to ‘enjoy life’ and not worry about having a flat stomach – as she said ‘having rolls’ means you’re ‘healthy and happy’
We all know that nothing is as it seems online – but it’s hard to remember that when we’re flooded with a picture-perfect reel of social media posts on our feeds.
While it can be hard to try not to compare yourself to those you see online, it’s important for your self-esteem to remember the reality behind the camera. And now body-positive influencer Isabelle has taken to Instagram to share her “real” body and encouraged people to love themselves even if they don’t compare to what they see online.
Inspirational Isabelle, who goes by the name fitness4lazygirls online, shared two snaps of herself and wrote on them both ‘happy and healthy’. One was a posed selfie in high-waist gym trousers, and the other was more relaxed, showing her trouser waistband rolled down and her stomach. She captioned the post: “Rolls = health and happiness. Period.”
Isabelle then shared some words of wisdom to her followers, adding: “A body with a healthy body fat percentage will move, bend, and roll when you sit in certain positions…that’s NORMAL!” She also explained that although she she works out four to five times a week, she will nourish her body with good food, while still enjoying nights out, and doesn’t worry about calorie counting or macros.
Isabelle also said she isn’t “defined by fitness or diet culture” and said she lives a balanced lifestyle that makes her happy. She wanted to get her message across to her followers that they should just focus on enjoying life, and admitted it took her a long time to stop “striving for a belly with no rolls”.
“It took me a long time to stop glamourising underweight bodies and stop striving for a belly with no rolls. The truth is, I would not be able to fully enjoy my life and focus on more important things without this bit of healthy fluff. So, please, love your rolls and appreciate the freedom they give you! ILY!!”
Many people loved her positive message as one follower commented: “I needed to hear this today and it was the first post I saw when I opened insta! Keep doing what you’re doing,” while a second added: “Yes babe!! Thank you for doing your bit to normalise these completely normal things!!!”
