Halle Berry’s make-up artist has shared one of her top tips for maintaining a youthful glow in the skin, revealing a routine that takes just a few minutes each night and doesn’t cost anything. Norma Patton-Lowin spilled her secrets to Parade earlier this week, saying: “My number one tip for a more youthful look is simple.

“While it is good to use a good night-time skincare routine, you must never go to bed with make-up on. Our skin does most of its reparative work at night. This can’t happen effectively if it’s clogged with make-up.”

A bit of water and soap can often do the trick. But if you’re looking to completely open up your skin and give it the best chance of getting that overnight recovery, Norma does have some other recommendations.

She advised using a soap made specifically for faces as a minimum, ideally adding a cleanser made for make-up removal too, as this gets deeper into the skin “to flush out the makeup and debris from the pores”.

Norma praised her work with Halle specifically, adding: “She’s so collaborative and trusting… Whether it be for beauty make-up or any wounds, bruises (for her film roles), she goes with it, even to the point of supporting me with the director or producers.”

In a conversation with Marie Claire, the Monster’s Ball star disclosed that she begins her day with various supplements such as vitamins A, D and K, along with probiotics, collagen and fish oils. After completing the school run for her two children, she dedicates an hour to working out four to five days a week.

She also made the surprising revelation that she hasn’t eaten breakfast for the past 20 years. Instead, she starts her day with just a cup of coffee and doesn’t have her first meal until around 2pm.

The former beauty queen clarified that this isn’t a specific diet plan, but rather her way of listening to her body’s needs instead of adhering to societal norms about breakfast. She typically has her last meal of the day around 6pm.

However, as the evening progresses, the Oscar-winning actress usually enjoys a glass of natural red wine. This is actually on her doctor’s advice, as heart disease is prevalent in her family and there is evidence that natural red wine can enhance heart health.
