Harry Kane has told Thomas Tuchel that England need more players like Noni Madueke after his shining display vs Andorra. The Three Lions largely underwhelmed in their World Cup qualifier on Saturday in Barcelona.

Tuchel’s men just about squeezed to victory, with Kane stretching to fire home Madueke’s cross. The Chelsea man was England’s brightest spark across what was a miserable display,

And speaking after the victory, Kane was left underwhelmed with his side’s performance. On a more positive note, the striker was quick to praise Madueke’s performance and claimed that Three Lions needed more players to be as positive as the wideman.

Speaking to ITV Football, he said: “It’s one of those. I think for sure we can play better. It wasn’t our greatest performance. I don’t think many people will remember this one but we can learn from it .

“It’s very hot here, dry pitch, probably similar conditions to next year at the World Cup so we’ll go away and analyse. We had good spells in the game but we couldn’t consistently have attack after attack and we take the three points and move on.

“We were probably not good enough on the ball and not enough forward runs, forward passes. The most important thing is we kept giving it away and it gave them some confidence and energy. 1-0 with five or 10 minutes, you have to be careful because it’s an important game to make sure we got the three points. It is what it it is. We move on.”

On Madueke’s performance, Kane said: “I think Noni [Madueke] was a constant threat today. He got the assist for the goal as well and we need more of that.

“We have amazing players and we need players who are not afraid to get it one vs one and if they lose the ball, go and get it again and go again. Against these types of teams, you need that one vs one quality because any team can sit back and defend and make it tough. So yeah he Madueke played well.”

England are back in action on Tuesday as they take on Senegal at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground and Kane has demanded improvement from his side. He said: “We need to be better for sure. June is never an easy camp.

“There’s always people coming off the back of a lot of games, long seasons. I think we saw that out there today. But we just have to learn from it, we got what we needed, three points. We have a friendly on Tuesday where we can learn from again against an opposition we may come up against next year.

“We thank the fans. They were great and even though they were spread out in the stadium they made themselves heard, and we are disappointed we couldn’t score a few more for them but happy we got the win.”
