Prince Harry has been seen wearing a silver bangle and green beaded bracelet for more than 20 years, with the Duke of Sussex sporting them at tonight’s Invictus Games event

Prince Harry was seen wearing his signature bracelets as he arrived at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday night, with the jewellery having a very special meaning.

The Duke of Sussex attended a special service in London to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Invictus Games. He was seen wearing a navy suit and his military medals as he waved to the crowd.

Also noticeable on his wrist was a silver bangle as well as a green beaded bracelet. Harry has been wearing them for more than two decades and is rarely seen without the bracelets. It’s believed one of the pieces has a heartbreaking link to his mother Princess Diana.

Harry’s silver bangle, which features a dark engraving, was first seen in 2001. Harry wore the bracelet while with his brother Prince William as they cheered on their teammates at a charity polo match. William was seen wearing a very similar bangle.

It’s believed Harry first got his bracelet on a trip to Africa in 1997, shortly after the death of his mother. The late Princess of Wales died in a car crash in Paris in August of that year.

Speaking to Town and Country magazine back in 2021, Harry explained: “I first came in 1997, straight after my mum died. My dad told my brother and me to pack our bags — we were going to Africa to get away from it all.”

Harry also explained how that trip made him feel like himself more than “anywhere in the world”. He added: “I have this intense sense of complete relaxation and normality here. To not get recognised, to lose myself in the bush with what I would call the most down-to-earth people on the planet.”

While Harry’s silver bangle seems to be a permanent fixture on his wrist, his other bracelet does sometimes change. However, it’s always a beaded-style bracelet.

When Harry first started dating Meghan Markle, the pair were spotted wearing matching blue, beaded bracelets. The matching bracelets fuelled rumours of a romance between the pair before they eventually went public with their relationship.
