With Halloween nearly upon us, some have decided to go all out for the spooky celebration. However, even if you don’t have the budget to put up a major display in your garden, there are options that look just as effective for a minimal cost.

One place to shop for budget-friendly options is Home Bargains, which has heaps of creepy decorations for whatever your level of Halloween excitement is. One mum has spent very little transforming her house into an arachnophobe’s nightmare.

Posting on her Instagram feed, Ciara (@ciaraburnett) said that her little girl had been “begging” to get the Halloween decorations up before the holiday arrives on October 31. So, she put together a small but spooky display that is sure to delight her local trick-or-treaters.

In the clip, she shares the front door transformation that would have cost the savvy mum just a few quid. Home Bargains is selling a cheap packet of ‘spider webs’ that can be stretched out to cover the entire front door for £1.49 – including some little plastic spiders.

The discount store’s website claimed: “Turn your home into a haunted hideout with this spooky Web and Spiders set! Perfect for Halloween decorating, this stretchy web looks like real cobwebs and comes with creepy plastic spiders to complete the eerie effect.

“Drape it over furniture, doorways, windows, or outdoor bushes to give guests a fright! Easy to use and super stretchy, this web covers a large area and creates an instant haunted house vibe.”

Ciara went a step further than the miniature spiders and found some jumbo spiders on Amazon that looked like extras from the set of I’m A Celebrity. She also used a Giant Outdoor Web that dangled from her bedroom window.

This massive “spine-chilling Halloween spectacle” was also from Home Bargains and cost under £5. The retailer says: “A spine-chilling addition to your outdoor Halloween decor that will send shivers down your spine!

“This colossal web is designed to create a truly haunting atmosphere and turn your home into a frightful spectacle. This web comes with everything you need for installation. Stretch it across your front garden, hang it from trees, or drape it over bushes for a truly spooky effect that will impress your neighbours and trick-or-treaters alike.”

The pack comes with five anchors to attach your web to the ground and a hook for the top part. It stretches up to a massive 23ft tall and covers a triangular shape. It could be elevated even further with some giant spider props or made to stand out on the street with some outdoor lighting wrapped around the web.

Plenty of people had great things to say about the affordable display. One impressed Instagram user said: “The coolest spooky decor!” Another wrote: “Well, that’s incredible!” A third put: “You’ve done a fantastic job!”

Another affordable and fun decoration is a traditional carved pumpkin, with supermarkets offering the orange fruit from as little as £1. If carving isn’t something that appeals to you, then consider painting a design onto the uncut flesh of the pumpkin instead.
