Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has been open about her decision to ditch lip filler and adopt a more natural look, prompting others to embrace the ‘make under’ look

Molly-Mae Hague looked dramatically different when she went on Love Island in 2019.

The former contestant met Tommy Fury during the hit show and the pair coupled up, with their romance lasting a long time out of the villa. The pair even got engaged and had baby Bambi together but last year, they split amid cheating claims.

Now Molly-Mae is fronting a new documentary about her life, which she revealed addresses her split from her partner. She told The Mirror : “It does discuss the break-up, and we’re very honest in what we share with the break-up, but it’s so much more than a break-up documentary. It focuses on parts of my life that I haven’t really delved into before.

“At the minute, we’re still filming, but we touch on lots of stuff like motherhood, we talk about body confidence, running my two businesses, and just doing all of that while having a two-year-old and navigating through a break-up has been really challenging.”

Molly-Mae has been candid about her decision to remove her filler. The influencer admitted she didn’t recognise herself at 21 because she had so much cosmetic work done and felt positive about how she had the money to ‘fix’ the excessive amount in her face.

She had started documenting her filler removal from 2020 onwards, and speaking last year, she said: “The other day I was actually having a moment of reflection on my filler journey and I realise I haven’t had filler now in coming up to five years, well over four years.

“I haven’t had any filler put into my face which if you remember my filler debacle, my filler scandal it’s quite, not an achievement but it’s quite a journey to reflect on really. It’s been so long.”

She added: “I’ve fallen in love with a new skincare product recently and I truly feel like it’s down to products like these that have helped me on this journey and steered me away from injectables.”

Back in May last year, Molly-Mae admitted she was “terrified” of herself as she felt so unrecognisable.

“I wouldn’t say I got addicted to it, but by the age of 21, I didn’t look like the same person. I literally looked like a different person. When I look back at pictures now, I’m terrified of myself. I’m like, ‘Who was that girl?’ I don’t know what happened,” she said on a podcast.

“But there was this one pivotal moment where I’d gone and got loads of filler and I posted a YouTube video and I hadn’t let the filler settle and it was really swollen and a screenshot from that video, it trended on Twitter for weeks.”

She added: “It was horrendous. It was utterly horrendous. My face was literally like, it was just awful. That was the moment for me as well where I was like, I think things need to change. I thought, one day I’m going to get my lips dissolved. It was a process. I went and got my lips dissolved and I posted about it on YouTube and I didn’t expect the response that I got. It was huge.”
