Leicester City are in desperate need of points, but a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Sunday afternoon won’t be easy, and unfortunately fans in the UK won’t be able to watch on live TV

Chelsea continue in their quest of securing European football for next season as they face a struggling Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have had a mixed Premier League campaign to date, and currently sit within touching distance of the top four. Having collected 46 points from their 27 Premier League games played – including 13 wins and seven draws – Enzo Maresca’s side are set to fall short of battling for the title come the end of the 2024/25 campaign. But they will certainly be looking to stamp their passport for Champions League or at least Europa League football next season.

With two wins from their last five outings in the league, Chelsea will hope for a big push in their final 11 games to secure a top-five finish, which should put them back into Europe’s elite club competition. Meanwhile, it’s a polar opposite state of affairs for Leicester, who hope to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has failed to turn the tide in the midlands after taking over from Steve Cooper in December, achieving just two wins from 14 games at the helm. While the Foxes breezed through the Championship last term under Maresca, their first season back in the Premier League without their former boss – who departed for Chelsea in the summer – has been plagued by an inability to match up with the division’s well-established sides.

A four-game run of defeats in the league without scoring once going into the clash with Chelsea highlights the extent of Leicester’s struggles at present, which has included 4-0 losses to both Everton and Brentford.

Ahead of the showdown at Stamford Bridge, Mirror Football breaks down everything you need to know about following the match – including the reason that it will not be televised live across the UK.

Why isn’t Chelsea vs Leicester City on TV in the UK?

Chelsea take on Leicester City at 2pm on Sunday, but the game will not be shown on Sky Sports, with the broadcaster favouring Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Bournemouth in north London at the same time.

Sky Sports will also show Manchester United’s 4.30pm clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford as it plays out.

How to watch Chelsea vs Leicester City

Overseas fans may still be able to catch the action live, dependent on their local Premier League TV rights holders, but UK fans will not be able to watch along unless they’ve secured a ticket at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, UK fans will have to wait until Sky Sports uploads video highlights shortly after the final whistle on YouTube, or wait for Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evening, or extended highlights of the game on Sky Sports the same evening.

BBC Radio 5 live will present build-up and live audio coverage of the game, while also providing the same service for United’s clash with the Gunners at the Theatre of Dreams straight after.

From next season, all Sunday 2pm games will be available to watch on UK TV due to the new rights deal with the Premier League. The 3pm blackout on Saturday afternoons, though, will remain in place for the coming years.
