Legoland fans can soon head to a huge Lego water park complete with lazy rivers, splash parks, water cannons and heaps of family-friendly water slides for all ages

As the sunshine is finally making an appearance, it’s no surprise that Brits are starting to think about the summer holidays and where to head to cool off when those heatwaves hit.

Luckily, there’s one epic Legoland waterpark that’s reopening its doors on Saturday 18 May complete with water slides, interactive attractions and play areas.

Located in the Gardaland theme park in Italy, the first LEGO®-themed water park in Europe has heaps of brilliant features and attractions that you won’t want to miss. We’re talking a LEGO River adventure where you float on large LEGO bricks through an atmospheric cave, and a ‘Jungle Adventures’ zone complete with heaps of fun slides and dinghy rides that work for all ages, including open-air rides and one attraction in the dark!

Oh, and little thrill-seekers won’t want to miss out on the Beach Party area with SEVEN slides, as well as water cannons and a huge 1,500-litre bucket that could pour water all over you at any given moment.

Then of course there are plenty of LEGO models throughout the park, a well as spaces where children can build their own boats out of Lego, decorate giant sandcastles or just have fun building with large soft blocks. (For the youngest holidaymakers, the DUPLO Splash attraction has a large pool and walk-in pool in its Pirate Bay, as well as plenty of fun slides).

As well as the attractions and slides, the water park boasts a shop and a few snack bars where you can get food and drink if you need a break from the excitement.

As the Legoland Water Park is located inside Gardaland theme park, you’ll need to buy a combo ticket for both if you want to visit. However if you already booked a Gardaland ticket but didn’t know about the water park, you don’t need to miss out. All park ticket holders can pay an extra fee at the ticket offices if they want to add the water park to their visit. You can find out more at gardaland.it.

It’s not just the waterpark that makes Gardaland well worth a visit. Tipped as one of Europe’s most underrated theme parks, visitors regularly praise it for its thrilling rides and tiny queues.

Highlights include a huge Jumanji-themed attraction where you go in search of a sacred gemstone facing terrifying creatures along the way, with Augmented Reality features to bring the story to life. Meanwhile for those with younger children, the theme park’s Peppa Pig Land never fails to be a hit, as well as other attractions in its Fantasy Kingdom from Prezzemolo Land and Kung Fu Panda Academy.

As for getting there from the UK? The nearest airport is Verona – when looking on Skyscanner you can find direct flights from £39 each way with Ryanair.
