A woman took to TikTok to share her ‘best life hack’ for making sure you have enough legroom on a flight – but while some think it’s genius, others were quick to call her ‘horrible’
There’s nothing more infuriating than the person in front of you reclining their plane seat back and leaving you no room to move your legs.
Plane seats are tight as it is and one woman had enough of not having any room thanks to passengers infront of her, she came up with a knifty trick to make sure the seat in front doesn’t move.
Clare Duggan wanted to protect her legroom, and posted a video on TikTok and called it “the best life hack”, since posting it, she’s racked up 1.5 million views. However it’s sparked fury with some who weren’t a fan of the idea and called it “pathetic”.
The traveller revealed that she needed to buy one item at the airport to save her legroom, and in the video, she demonstrated that. She put her tray table down on the plane and wedged a full-size Pringles tube on top of it, blocking the person in front of her from adjusting their seat.
Clare said: “This is the best life hack for when you’ve got some infront of you trying to put the seat down constantly,” but while she was happy with her seat blocker, the comments section gave a mixed bag of opinions, as some thought it was a clever idea, while it angered others.
One TikTok user wrote: “This is ridiculous and quite frankly, you should be banned from flying. Bloody pathetic,” and a second slammed the idea and simply said: “You are a horrible person,” and another penned: “I would call the steward immediately to fix my seat.”
However, others loved it and thanked Clare for the hack, as one fellow flyer said: “As a 6ft 5 traveller this is the best thing I’ve ever seen” and another fan said it was “genius”.
It comes after another plane passenger sparked fury online after sharing unsolicited photographs of the woman on board next to him.
The seething male shared a series of ‘unflattering’ snaps as he complained about his journey to Cleveland, Ohio, US. Posting to X, formerly Twitter, the passenger wrote: “‘My flight from Knoxville to Houston was amazing. Now on to Cleveland.”
One image showed the woman sitting next to him asleep, with another showing her leaning up against the seat in front of her, exposing her armpits. The man, under the username @Shawn172519, claimed in a thread that she had ‘taken over’ his seat, leaving him with little space.
“I was smashed against the window,” he said in a since-deleted post. “I’m 6ft1 and around 200lbs. She commandeered 1/3 of my seat. She had lifted the armrest.”
He added: “When she leaned forward, I almost lost it. It was a completely full flight. I couldn’t move”. The traveller also claimed that his seatmate had taken her shoes off and was also snoring. But his savage complaint has divided those online, with dozens rushing to have their say on the matter.
