A bargain hunter shared the story of how she managed to bag a designer T-shirt for a bargain price – but she was left worried that she’d done the wrong thing when bartering
A woman has shared that how she managed to bag a designer T-shirt for a bargain price at a car boot sale.
However, she was worried that she’d been too cheeky with the woman selling it because she asked for it at an even bigger discount than it already had.
TikToker Anna, who posts on the platform as @thesecondhandqueen, is known for bagging fantastic items at a fraction of the price. And when talking about one of her latest purchases, she asked her followers: “Was I mean to this woman at a car boot sale? I would have paid full price, but I literally didn’t have more cash […] Am I being sensitive, or was that a fair discount for a secondhand designer at a car boot sale?”
The woman selling stuff explained that she “wanted rid of everything” and had many items for as little as £1 on the table. When Anna picked up a T-shirt, the woman selling it encouraged her to “check the label because it’s a good brand,” and Anna noticed that it was from ‘Billionaire Boys Club’.
Billionaire Boys Club is an American fashion label based in New York City founded by Pharrell Williams and Nigo in 2003. It’s really popular, with a rather hefty price tag for some items. Many of the T-shirts can fetch up to £85, with many hoodies going over the £200 mark, and jeans setting you back £255 for some designs.
Anna did explain that she was “happy with £15,” because the woman explained she would normally have priced it at £35 but she wanted to get rid of it. However, Anna only had £10 in cash left.
“I’ve literally only got £10 left on me, could you do it for £10?” she asked the seller, who asked her if she could do £12, but Anna had nothing else, explaining: “I’m only doing it to be cheeky, if not, no worries”.
Anna “double and triple checked” that she was okay with the woman slashing the price, and she did accept it. “I appreciate that a lot, thank you,” she told the woman. Anna then paid £10 for her designer T-shirt, and the woman proceeded to try and flog her some more items – despite the fact she had no cash left.
In the comments, people assured her she hadn’t done anything wrong, writing: “Definitely wasn’t mean you were being truly honest with the lady. She could have easily said no to your £10 offer. It would have been a bargain purchase at £15 as well, to be fair.”
Another added: “I used your ‘how much is the item next to the item I really want’ technique today. Freitag bag for $10 (£7.64) woohoo.”
