A mother-of-two claims to have found a “miracle” cure for her psoriasis almost three decades after first being diagnosed with the skin condition that causes rashes over the body

Kate had struggled with psoriasis for decades

For years, Kate Scott struggled with psoriasis, an unpredictable and painful skin condition that affected her confidence, her sleep, and her everyday life.

Despite trying every treatment available, the mother-of-two was caught in an endless cycle of flare-ups – until she discovered a breakthrough therapy that changed everything in just a matter of weeks.

Kate, 43, first developed psoriasis as a teenager. It appeared as a rash around the time of her final exams, and she quickly realised that stress could trigger flare-ups. Over the years, the condition became a persistent battle, leaving her self-conscious and desperate for relief.

In February 2024, after five years of relative stability, Kate suffered her worst flare-up yet – brought on by a simple insect bite. The condition, known as the Koebner response, causes psoriasis to develop in areas of skin trauma. Within days, her body was covered.

“This happened so quickly, and within five days, I was covered,” she recalls. “It was the worst I had ever had it.”

Struggling with pain, itchiness, and sleepless nights, Kate sought help from her GP and a dermatologist. She was prescribed steroid creams, but the relief was only temporary.

Doctors also suggested more aggressive treatments, including immunosuppressant injections that would require regular blood tests.

“They don’t fully know all the side effects,” Kate explains. “It compromises your immune system, which means you’re more likely to get sick. I have asthma, so I didn’t want to take that risk. I actually thought, ‘I’d rather live with this than go on those.’”

Frustrated and desperate for an alternative, Kate turned to TikTok, where she discovered a growing community of psoriasis sufferers sharing their experiences. That’s when she first heard about red light therapy.

“I never would have known about it if it wasn’t for TikTok,” she says. “People don’t talk about psoriasis because it’s such a horrible condition. But here were all these women sharing their stories.”

Determined to learn more, Kate came across LumiRed, a company specialising in red light therapy. Skeptical but hopeful, she reached out to the company’s managing director, Rory O’Neill, for advice.

“These products are expensive, and it’s hard to know if they’ll work,” she admits. “Rory explained everything and told me, ‘You need to be religious with this – ten times a day at first.’”

Kate decided to invest in the LumiPro Max 300, a compact red light therapy device. Despite juggling a busy career as CEO of Holotoyz – a toy company specialising in augmented reality products – she committed to using the device every day.

Kate’s skin has now completely cleared

In just three months, Kate’s skin had completely cleared.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she says. “No side effects, no hassle. It’s completely changed my life. I don’t even need to use it every day anymore, but if I ever get a flare-up again, I know exactly what to do.”

Her family was just as shocked by the transformation. “They’d seen me suffering for nearly a year, and then suddenly, it was gone,” she says.

Rory O’Neill, the founder of LumiRed, says stories like Kate’s are exactly why he started the business.

“When I first discovered red light therapy, I was fascinated by the benefits,” he says. “I used it for my own chronic pain, and I knew it could help others. When Kate came to me, she was desperate. But she stuck to the routine, and now she’s recommending it to her friends and family.”

Red light therapy has been praised for its ability to treat a range of conditions, including arthritis, joint pain, acne, and even hair loss. LumiRed offers a variety of devices, from handheld gadgets to full-length panels, designed for targeted relief.

For Kate, the results speak for themselves. “To have clear skin—you take it for granted,” she says. “It just gives you your confidence back.”
