Allison Kelley found the wedding dress of her dreams, but realised it was way over budget – so she’s taken to TikTok to help try and make some extra cash to afford it

It’s no secret weddings can get expensive – and now one woman has asked strangers to help her buy her dress.

Most brides will agree, that getting their dream wedding dress is one of the most important things about a wedding – but they can come with a heavy price tag.

However, bride-to-be Allison Kelley has relied on her TikTok followers to help her fork out for a beautiful Vivienne Westwood dress and claimed she already had £1,000 but needed an extra £3,627 to buy the gown outright. Allison hopes with the help of her followers she can afford the dress of her dreams.

In her TikTok video, Allison said: “I’m pretty sure I owe everyone a little dress update. If you’re new here, I made the very irresponsible decision of trying this dress on when she is well out of my price point.” She then shared a photo in the gorgeous long ivory silk dress with a dramatic skirt and corseted top.

The dress in total is £4,627, and she hopes she can raise the funds from TikTok and make the most of the ‘TikTok creator fund’. This works by TikTok creators turning their views into cash, so in order to rake in the money, Allison needed to make a video over a minute long, and if watched for over five seconds, she could make money.

Luckily, the video quickly went viral, and it’s currently been watched 2.5 million times, with many people commenting on the video hoping she can make enough to buy the dress. One TikTok follower wrote: “You need this dress omg,” while a second wrote: “Girl I hope this video boosts and you’re a part of the creator fund because the way that dress looks on you is worth every dollar!!”

However, others issued concern over spending so much on a dress, as one person commented: “Not worth over 5k. You’re stunning but you will be stunning in any dress,” and another added: “If it’s out of your budget..don’t do it. You don’t need a reception dress. Use that 5k towards your honeymoon.”

According to The Sun, TikTok bosses say: “The funds that each creator can earn are worked out by a combination of factors; including the number of views and the authenticity of those views, the level of engagement on the content, as well as making sure content is in line with our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

“No two creators or videos are the same, and there is no limit to the different kinds of content we will support with the fund. The Creator Fund total varies daily and is dependent on the amount of videos published by our community that day – so this will fluctuate based on the amount of content being published.”
