Straand’s dry shampoo mist has been formulated with scalp scare at the forefront so rather than drying out the hair, it helps to hydrate your locks in between washes, and we put it to the test

I avoid washing my hair too frequently in fear of stripping the natural oils, so I often rely on dry shampoos or other products to see me through until my next hair wash. My only problem is that I hate that powdery, clogged-up feeling a lot of dry shampoos can leave on the scalp.

However, luckily, my issue was solved when I came across Straand’s Crown Refresh Revitalising Dry Shampoo Mist, £20. Straand is an Aussie-made haircare brand that says their products are ‘skincare for your scalp’. The scalp is often pushed aside when it should require just as much attention as your face or body.

Letting powdery formulas build up in your hair can be really problematic, leading to clogged follicles, irritation, dry skin and even sometimes hair loss. So when I discovered Straand’s scalp-friendly mist, I knew I had to test it out and I was really surprised with the results.

Pros

  • Doesn’t leave that dry, powdery residue
  • Perfect for after-gym use
  • Hydrates the scalp and hair rather than drying it out
  • Leaves hair looking refreshed

Cons

  • Requires full misting of the hair and blow drying after use, so it is not as quick to use as other dry shampoos
  • Leaves an odd texture on the hair before it is blow-dried

Straand Crown Refresh Revitalising Dry Shampoo Mist review

My hair tends to get greasy fairly quickly, so I’ve been on the hunt for a fix that doesn’t require me to wash it constantly. I found most other dry shampoos left an odd white cast or too much of a dry feel on my scalp, but Straand’s didn’t do any of this.

Straand’s dry shampoo comes out in a wet mist consistency and requires you to completely saturate your roots and hair. You then go in with a blow-dryer and your hair comes out immediately refreshed. The first time I used it, I was so surprised with the results as I wasn’t expecting my hair to come out looking virtually freshly washed, but that’s exactly what the mist did.

I will say that it’s not as convenient as other dry shampoos that just need a bit of zhuzing through the hair, and then you’re ready to go. This needs a little extra time and also a hair dryer.

However, I’ve found this product so handy for my work and gym bag. I luckily have hair dryers at both my workplace and my gym, so if I ever need to give my hair a little refresher after a long day or sweaty workout, I know I can mist it, dry it and look as good as I did when I left the house.

Another non-aerosol dry shampoo that looks great is K18’s new Airwash Dry Shampoo, £49, as well as Got2B’s more affordable getFRESH Dry Shampoo Mist, £5.50.
