A woman has confessed to no longer fancying her husband, whom she met at university, after she slimmed down to a size 12 on the weight loss jab, while he has now tipped the scales at 20 stone

Weight loss jabs have caused a lot of controversy, but one effect that has been little discussed is their impact on relationships.

One woman took the brave step of speaking out on how “disgusted” she felt after she successfully lost weight – but her partner, however, who had not taken the weight loss jab, now seemed repulsively overweight to her. Speaking to the Mail, the woman, going by the pseudonym of Alison Cox, believes her overweight husband is now tipping the scales at over 20 st, and Alison, now a size 12, has begun to invent excuses for not having sex.

Alison, from Newcastle, said: “I’ve heard of other users developing aversions to fried foods and alcohol, but I never expected to develop one to my own husband. Yet over the past year, as the excess pounds have disappeared from my body, I’ve found myself increasingly turned off by his chubby frame.

“Tom and I met at university in 2004, when we were 20.” Back then, she was a size 8, weighing 8½ st, while Tom, who is 6ft and played rugby, was broad and muscular, weighing around 15st. “I loved his manly frame and firm physique. He made me feel delicate and I couldn’t get enough of him in the bedroom,” she revealed.

She adds that relationship contentment, which included romantic three-course meals in restaurants, meant the pounds soon piled on. Comfortable in their marriage, neither of them minded when they went up a dress size, or when Tom’s abs became a “distant memory”.

In 2014 they became parents and after giving birth to their second child in 2016, Alison never “bounced back”, finding it difficult to keep her weight off. But after seeing a friend slim down on the weight loss jab Mounjaro, Alison decided to take it too.

After a consultation with a leading pharmacy, she was approved to take the drug, for around £200 a month. Her target weight was 10st.

Tom was not initially supportive as he believed she should be happy that he still fancied her whatever her size, but later backed down on his stance telling her it was her body and her money – although he had no intention of following suit – and tackling his weight increase.

Alison told The Mail: ” Every week, beginning early last March, I jabbed myself in the thigh or tummy, and as the ‘food noise’ in my head was silenced and my appetite dulled, I began losing weight at a rate of 1.5-2lb a week.

“I ate healthily but there was no more picking at the children’s tea or tucking into huge portions the same size as Tom’s, and I had no interest in my evening glass – or two – of wine. I also took up running and yoga, to tone my shrinking body.”

However, not only did Tom continue to eat as he did before, he started to put away more food, almost in defiance. Alison said that with her new, tiny appetite, she regularly struggled to finish her meals.

But this then meant that her husband was polishing off her leftovers, washing it down with several beers. Within a year, she reached her goal weight of 10 stone, but now says Tom gives her the ‘ick’.

Alison added that her other half has joked about trying the jab himself, but she realises he needs to come to that decision – and be serious about making a change – himself.
