A 19-year-old woman has explained how she married a man she met on a popular internet forum after just two days – but she hasn’t told many people because she is scared of being judged
A woman says she’s “never been happier” after marrying a man she met on the internet after just two days.
The anonymous woman, 19, took to Reddit’s r/confessions page to open up about her experience, and explained she first came across her husband, 20, on popular internet forum 4chan.
The pair bonded over the video game Stardew Valley, and eventually he asked if they could meet up. She explained how he made her feel “really special”, and how an off-hand comment led to them getting hitched.
The woman wrote: “We were just Stardew Valley friends for a while, playing together when there was time. Then he asked to come see me, and I agreed to it. When we first hugged, it felt really special, but that wasn’t what made me fall for him.
“After we spent the day together and talked about a lot, I said, ‘I wish I could marry a guy like you,’ and he was like, ‘Really?! You wanna marry me?’ and jumped up to put his shoes on and take me to get rings.
“We got married the next morning, and I’ve never been happier. I never felt so right about anything. He bought us a house a few weeks ago, and it’s going to be closed at the end of this month. I seriously can’t wait.”
She explained she’s “barely told anyone” about it “because of fear of judgement”. She’s also worried about her grandma. She wrote: “I’m 19, and she has raised me since I was 13. Since my mom died, she’s really protective of me and worried all the time. She loves my husband (they’ve gotten to know each other well since we got married, but she doesn’t know we got married yet), but she has a heart condition that causes her heart to beat irregularly and fast if she’s stressed out, and I’m scared of shocking her into a heart attack.”
Reacting in the comments, one person joked: “You don’t ever need to worry about leaving the honeymoon phase if you never had one to begin with.” To which another said: “Great life hack.” Others said they hoped the original poster was joking.
Another asked: “How did you guys get married so fast? How was the process? I thought you had to wait for a marriage license for it to be real … I’m so confused.” And the woman explained: “We went to the courthouse the morning after deciding we wanted to marry each other, they gave us the marriage license right after we were married. We waited there for like an hour and that’s it.”
