A bargain buy from Amazon keeps me cool with three speed settings and a refreshing mist – I don’t know how I managed without it

As temperatures continue to rise across the UK, keeping cool is a priority for many sweaty Brits. Being one myself, I have tried all kinds of ways to stay comfortable in the warmer weather with varying degrees of success.

From full size fans to teeny tiny ones powered by my phone, a combination of the unpredictable British weather and age related inferno’s have led me to own quite a few cooling devices. A recent Amazon purchase, however, has been surprisingly impressive, providing a powerful breeze whilst also being incredibly portable.

Initially purchased to attach the handle of my spin bike in sticky gym classes, the Winique Misting Stroller Fan is a double bubble of cooling joy. Available from Amazon for £12.99, this compact fan also chucks out a cooling mist to keep me feeling fresh.

Equipped with a flexible tripod base, the fan has long bendable legs that can wrap around a variety of surfaces including the handle bar of the bike. I felt this was a little more versatile than a clip-on fan as it can also be used to stand up on it’s own at home.

It has three adjustable wind speeds and is really quiet, even on the top setting. According to the Amazon blurb it comes with a rechargeable 2600mAh battery that takes around four hours to charge fully, providing around four hours of use after that.

I also like the fact that you can move the fan on its axis, as it features 270° vertical and 360° horizontal rotation. Easy to move about, this is super handy for finding the perfect airflow position to feel the cool breeze on my face.

Then of course, there is the bonus feature – the misting spray function. The fan has a discreet 50ml water tank that I fill up before use.

By pressing the button on the back, it sprays out a very fine, cooling mist for up to five minutes at a time. An absolute bonus on a spin bike, the water is just enough to feel refreshing without leaving surrounding surfaces too wet.

If the Winique Misting Fan isn’t quite right, Amazon have plenty more fans to choose from. The Honeywell TurboForce Fan, for example, has been a bit hit with shoppers. Currently on sale with 40% off at £19.59, some customers are calling it ‘better than Dyson.’

For customer looking for cooling capabilities on the go, this Bladeless Neck Fan delivers wearable air conditioning for £21.99.

Shoppers who can’t wait for delivery might like the Challenge Mini Tower Fan. On sale for £26 at Argos, the digital desktop fan is small enough to use on holiday and at home.

Elsewhere, Dunelm is selling the Russell Hobbs Scandi Style 12 Inch Desk Fan for £54. With an unusual wooden blade and retro styling, this fan would not look out of place in trendy bedrooms.

Other Amazon customers who have snapped up the £12.99 personal fan have given it a 4.4 out of five-star rating.

One shopper said: “Absolutely fantastic, great value for money, easy to use and wrap around option means it can be used for so many things (on a pram handle, desk, anything). Would highly recommend.”

Another added: “This is a really powerful fan, lightweight and compact. Easily attached to the pram but can be taken off easily and used on the table. The legs are really flexible. Battery life is pretty good, just have to remember to charge it – but really impressed.”

A third agreed, saying: “I cannot believe the power you can get from this tiny fan! This comes with octopus legs that you can wrap around handles or bed posts to secure it.. the head is fully adjustable so that you can get the right angle. There are three speed settings which you can have either with spray or just the fan.”

One buyer did voice some concerns however. Someone else said: “2 fans were purchased for holiday as have 2 kids under 2. 1 has stopped working after 5 days of use.” Another added: “Misting function didn’t work. Quite chunky and heavy to take on holiday.”

Overall, it seems that most buyers are as impressed as I am with it. A fellow fan of the fan called it “fantastically versatile” adding: “this was such a Godsend during the last heatwave, and on warm/hot days.
