One man said he whisked his girlfriend off to Venice after planning a romantic proposal to her. However, he didn’t even end up getting down on one knee after pulling a prank first which put an end to his arrangements
Many people put a lot of time and effort into proposing to their other halves.
However, one man revealed things didn’t exactly go quite to plan when he popped the big question to his girlfriend.
He whisked his girlfriend off to Venice after planning a romantic proposal to her. However, he didn’t even end up getting down on one knee after pulling a prank first which put an end to his arrangements.
The man took to popular X (formerly Twitter) account @Fesshole to share his tale about the proposal this week. And a lot of people couldn’t help feel sorry for the guy.
Writing on the site, he said: “Took g/f to Venice, planning to propose to her. But first I thought I’d pull a prank where I pretend to get down on a knee to propose, but it’s actually to tie my shoe.
“I did this and my g/f’s reaction was ‘Oh thank God, I thought you were going to propose’. Didn’t propose.
The post has gone viral since being shared – racking up a staggering 1.4million views.
Many thought it spelled the end of the relationship, as one person wrote: “If a woman says no to a proposal, the relationship is over sooner or later. Keeping options open is non committal.” Another added: “Dump her immediately.”
While a third added: “Might be lucky and just didn’t want a public proposal? Otherwise next destination is likely Single Town.”
Another woman agreed his girlfriend probably wasn’t the right one as she admitted she’d been in the same situation herself. “Same happened to me in Paris! Married the right one 5 years later,” she wrote.
However, someone else said marriage isn’t everything, as they wrote: “It’s not compulsory to get married. Living separately is fantastic in my opinion.”
Others said they thought the guy should speak to his girlfriend about the situation, as one said: “That would be your exact moment to talk about that – why is communication such an alien concept to some people?”
Another agreed: “I don’t understand people proposing without talking about getting married first…”
Meanwhile someone else thought the woman couldn’t have said that to save face, as they wrote: “Jokes on you. She said that to hide her disappointment.”
Whatever way, we think they need a serious heart-to-heart to find out what’s going on.
