If you like sticky toffee pudding, this is an experience you’re sure to enjoy

The warm summer is now gone and we’re starting to welcome autumn. And because of this, it’s probably a good time to switch to all things ‘cosy’ to get you in the colder mindset of a change in weather.

Whether it’s watching movies with people walking on crisp, brown leaves with a coffee in hand or perhaps dipping your feet into warm in a bath which smells of your favourite dessert – the choice is yours. But I would highly recommend the latter, and I will tell you why.

I was invited by Lush to try their Book a Bath: Sticky Dates. And if you like the smell of sticky toffee pudding, then dive right in. For one hour, you’re taken on a journey of relaxation. You are guided by one of the lovely LUSH spa staff who talks you through each of the products you can use, from a cleanser to a body lotion, a scrub and of course, one of their famous bath bombs.

This time, though, it’s a themed bath – so all of the products I was given were part of their Sticky Date collection. And let me tell you, you use every product in there, and at one point, probably think about shoving them all in your bag.

It goes without saying, don’t do this because you actually get a goodie bag at the end. I won’t tell you exactly what was in it—I find it’s better to be surprised—but you get a few full-sized products—plus the body bar you used in the bath—so nothing goes to waste.

The bath is huge – and feels very cosy

During this hour, you also get a 30-minute, self-led bathing experience of pure indulgence. If you’re like me, you hate strong smells, especially if they are sweet, but this is subtle. It’s not too strong or weak, and it doesn’t make you want to jump out.

What happened during the experience – and how much is it?

Walk in and expect peace, greenery, birds chirping, and a fresh glass of water with lemon and mint—which is meant to be the most soothing combo, I’m told! The hour starts the second you’re guided by one of the spa members, and it’s a pretty relaxing experience from the get-go.

There are no loud voices or feelings of pressure to buy products. You’re given options, and you can choose one of the products best suited to your skin and needs.

I was given a bath bomb, a scrub, a cleaner, a bar soap to wash my body with, as well as a moisturiser. I actually chose which moisturiser I wanted and went for a deep, rich one as my skin can get pretty dry in winter.

You get a great selection of Lush products to use inside and outside of the bath

The bath bomb you’re given is the Lush Spa exclusive Sticky Dates one, expertly reformulated to include moisturising date syrup to soften your skin while you indulge in the ultimate gourmand, 30-minute bath. The smell is unreal, and it does make you want to get a spoon and try a warm bowl of sticky toffee pudding (vanilla ice cream optional).

I stayed in the bath for 15/20 minutes – which is heated to 40C (the ideal temp they say) and spent the remaining 10 pampering myself with their warm face mitts, body lotion, body spray, body powder, moisturiser and more. The products they give you honestly feel endless.

They stress that you don’t need to rush your experience. Instead, after your bath, you can take your time, come out to their cosy spa lounge—with the comfiest seats—and relax with a cup of vegan chai for as long as you want. I’m not vegan – and I hate overly sweet chai, but this was great. It didn’t taste any different to a non-vegan drink, and it gave me the cosy feeling I needed.
