With March marking National Sleep Awareness Month, I’ve found a product that makes a real difference to my quality of sleep – and dozens of other people agree too
With this month officially National Sleep Awareness Month – and 14 March World Sleep Day – the importance of getting good nights’ sleep is being stressed more than ever – especially as research has revealed that two thirds (68%) of women in the UK admit they struggle to get good sleep.
Nowadays there are plenty of products on the market that may help to encourage better quality sleep, from eye masks and supplements to pillow mists and weighted blankets. I’ve tried plenty of them, and I’ve found one product that I think really works: these high-strength CBD drops* that have dozens of five-star reviews from shoppers who call them “amazing” and “fabulously effective” at helping them sleep.

I’ve recently discovered the CBD Night Drops from sleep experts Dreem Distillery, a brand that specialises in high-quality, effective CBD beauty and wellness products. These under-the-tongue drops contain 2,400mg (or 8%) CBD broad spectrum hemp extract, which can have calming theraputic benefits for some people, and Dreem Distillery says that taking 6-8 drops half an hour before bed can ‘help you fall asleep faster and wake up feeling refreshed’.
CBD Night Drops cost £60 for 10ml, which Dreem Distillery says should last 2-3 weeks if taken nightly, or £160 for a 30ml bottle.
(Although completely legal, obviously, and non-addictive, non-intoxicating and not something you can overdose on, it’s worth double-checking that is right for you before taking it; it shouldn’t be used by those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, for example.)
I’ve always been a little sceptical about the effects of CBD but, in the name of wellbeing research – and keen for a better night’s sleep – I first ran a bath using another of Dreem Distillery’s lovely products: The Z’s bath soak, £80. These therapeutic bath salts contain magnesium sulfate – another ingredient know to aid relaxation – as well as CBD and relaxing essential oils, and helped to relieve any muscles aches I had.
I then put the recommended 6-8 drops of the CBD Night Drops under my tongue, held them there for a minute, swallowed, then settled down to sleep.
And the results really surprised me. I dropped off within minutes and had the most restful night’s sleep I’d had in ages, waking up feeling more refreshed than usual. It could have been the combination of using these CBD drops together with the bath soak, but I’d definitely recommend them.
And I’m not alone. The product has racked up over 100 five-star reviews on the website, with shoppers saying they “really work” and have them “finally sleeping through the night”.
Another sleep supplement that comes highly rated by our in-house tester is Ancient + Brave’s True Magnesium+ capsules*, which cost £24 for 30 servings (£19.20 if you subscribe for regularly orders). Our team member Kirsty says,” “I have had poor sleep ever since having children. Almost every night I would wake up around 3am and could not go back to sleep. It has been like this for so long, and has got worse in the last years of my 40s and heading into the menopause.
“I started taking the Ancient + Brave True Magnesium+ tablets, two at night about 30 mins before bed, and within a week I started to notice the difference. There has been a huge improvement in my sleep: I’m not waking as much, my sleep is deep, and I feel rested when I wake up. I put this down to these magnesium tablets, and have been telling everyone I know about them!”
Many, including myself, also find that a pillow mist can help with nodding off too; my favourite is This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, currently reduced from £24 to £19.20.
