Stanley’s Quencher cup has sold out countless times since launching and after owning mine for year, I can see how – here’s how you can get one for less than £30

It’s been a year since I first got my hands on the bestselling Stanley Quencher cup and I’ve used it pretty much every day. At the time, I had set a goal of drinking more water as I was guilty of not hydrating as much as I should. Now I have this trusty tumbler by my side, I drink at least one litre of liquid a day.

You can read my full review here, but if you haven’t heard of the Stanley Quencher cup, it is essentially a reusable water bottle that holds a whopping 1.2L of liquid – thus reducing the number of times you have to refill and helping to increase your water intake. It also keeps your drink icy cold for 48 hours, a feature I find refreshing even during the cooler months.

The Stanley Quencher cup has sold out countless times since launching in the UK, but, it’s not the most affordable water bottle around coming in at £44. Stanley rarely has it on sale – in fact, in the year I’ve had mine I haven’t ever seen it deviate from full price. However, that’s not to say there aren’t savvy ways you can save money off the popular brand. I’ve found a deal that means you can get the Stanley Quencher for as little as £28.49.

The cup’s main purpose is to make the user drink more water with minimal effort – and it definitely did this for me. Within the first day, I found I was drinking from the bottle while going about general activities like working on my laptop or watching TV, without even thinking about it.

I think this is probably due to the straw, as it’s so easy to drink from, plus as the cup holds 1.2L, I could get my recommended water intake without having to fill it up once which came in really useful during a working day. My drink was kept very cold all day after filling it with ice, and when kept on my bedside table, it remained cold come morning. I did find that when I used smaller ice cubes they did melt after a few hours, but after switching to larger cubes, the ice maintained their shape without disappearing for a much longer time period.

There’s no question about it, this cup is huge in size and while the ergonomic handle with comfort-grip inserts does make it comfortable to carry, the sheer capacity of it means it’s pretty heavy to travel with when filled. It’s slightly impractical for lugging around on the commute as it takes up quite a lot of space in your bag, but when working from home, the large capacity is much appreciated.

For a Stanley Cup that is easier to sip on the go, consider the Stanley IceFlow Flip White Travel Tumbler. It holds less water (890ml), but the leak-proof design and easy-to-hold handle make it great for travelling. Even better, you can save money off it too via TopCashback. New Argos customers can nab it for £23.95 after receiving £15 cashback and existing customers can get it for £25.66 after cashback.

Another reusable water bottle able to hold 1L of liquid is the £45 Ocean Bottle. It comes in 11 stylish colours and can be engraved with your own text for an added £10. It’s also good for the environment as for every bottle made, 1,000 plastic bottles are stopped from entering the ocean. You can also find reusable water bottles on Amazon – the iglu water bottle has a one-litre capacity and is £28.50.

Elsewhere at Stanley, the brand has recently launched a collaboration with Barbie. The Peaches ‘N’ Cream Quencher has sold out but there are still eight other designs to choose from including ’80s Dynamite, Barbie Icon and 1959 Original.
