Eloise Fouladgar was left gobsmacked after travelling from the UK to Sydney, Australia where she encountered several major differences at a McDonald’s restaurant

According to McDonald’s, the fast food giant has over 36,000 restaurants across the globe, operating in over 100 countries and territories.

One fan of the Golden Arches now claims she has found the “weirdest in the world” as she took to TikTok to share her experience and explain why. Eloise Fouladgar, who travelled from the UK to Sydney, Australia, began by revealing that this particular McDonald’s prepares all the food on an upper floor, before sending it down to customers via a conveyor belt.

After heading over to create her order on a touchscreen, Eloise opted for a caramel-flavoured McCafe Deluxe Iced Coffee with almond milk. Impressed, she exclaimed: “In the UK you cannot get almond milk at McDonald’s – I’m actually in shock.”

She continued her order, selecting a Lotus Biscoff McPop – a sweet, squishy dough with a gooey inside. Eloise was also stunned to learn the menu included Vegemite McShaker Seasoning (for fries) and side orders of the iconic Big Mac Special Sauce, sold at 70 cents (35p approx.).

Browsing the menu further, which included aioli and tartar sauces, Eloise pondered: “Why don’t we have these in the UK? It’s actually quite embarrassing.” She then showcased the McOz burger, which as the name suggests is native to the country, whilst the extensive McCafe options included several more items that aren’t available back home, such as the Cheese Toastie and Cheese & Tomato Toastie.

After performing a taste test on her order, Eloise hailed it as the “best iced coffee” she’d ever had. She also hailed the McPops, Macarons and Vegemite fries as “so good”, before tucking into a cheeseburger that clearly didn’t pass the test. “It’s dripping in oil,” Eloise said.

“I think this might be the best McDonald’s in the world,” one TikTok user declared in response. A second person added: “English McDonald’s has gotten so bad and boring. I went to Spain and their menu was amazing.”

A local hailed: “Best Maccas ever. I was amazed when I first saw it. So proud to have it in Sydney. “Whilst a fourth declared: “I have never been more influenced to go and get a McDonald’s in my life!”

This McDonald’s is located at Sydney International Airport and opened in 2018. Designed by Landini Associates, the restaurant claimed it had incorporated world first technology for a McDonald’s.

McDonald’s Australia senior development director, Josh Bannister, told Inside Retail at the time: “The new Sydney Airport restaurant is unique for McDonald’s in Australia. Working with limited space, we needed to be creative in how we designed the restaurant to present our customers with the best possible dining experience.”
