An Aldi employee has revealed what it is really like to work a shift at the beloved bargain supermarket – from discovering new SpecialBuys to packing boxes and stacking shelves. Shoppers insist one part of the job is ‘oddly satisfying’
An Aldi worker has shared the reality of what it is like to work a busy shift stacking shelves – and some say they find it “oddly satisfying”. When shopping in the supermarket it is fun to browse through the aisles and pick out what you need. But it is no easy feat for supermarket employees to get perfectly stacked shelves.
From the speedy scanning at tills that Aldi is notorious for, to packing boxes, and discovering what is new in the SpecialBuys aisle, Aldi employee known as Mr Mullac POV online has been sharing videos of his shifts. Shoppers have been loving the insights. Recently, @MrMullacPOV shared on TikTok a video of him neatening up the products on shelves.
After a number of customers have been in the store on one day, things can get pretty messy. Because of this, workers are often assigned to conduct ‘facing up’ – a technique that involves organising the products so shelves appear well stocked and look aesthetically pleasing.
The Aldi worker said: “Work an Aldi shift with me – facing up edition.” At speed, he can be seen putting items in neat stacks, and getting rid of any carboard boxes which are empty of products. He said he enjoys “making the store look good” and “taking pride in everything you do.”

“The things I’d do to have a retail job where I do nothing but face ups,” commented one. “This is so weirdly satisfying to watch,” added another.
“This is the most therapeutic thing I’ve ever watched,” commented one other.
“If I got this job I wouldn’t complain,” said one. Another supermarket worker added: “I loved facing up. The most satisfying part of a shift.”
Another agreed and said: “I loved facing up when I worked in a supermarket as a student. It was strangely satisfying.” “So satisfying to watch,” agreed one other.
While someone else said: “I do this when I go to Aldi, and I am not an employee! annoys me that others customers leave the shelves messy.”
One Aldi employee wrote: “I do this six days a week! Working in retail will never be boring . Facing up before close is the best part.”
But others pointed out that it is not as much fun as it seems. One individual said: “I used to work in retail and hated facing up the aisles. Put me on the till any day.”
Another added: “I used to do this and take so long because I needed it to be perfect.”
While one more admitted: “I actually do this at my job and its definitely not that satisfying.”
