A mum ‘on a roll’ has managed to make some extra cash to spend this Christmas thanks to her new side hustle. She admits she hates what she has to wear but loves the flexibility

It’s that time of year when we are all spending more than usual – whether it be on Christmas presents or cards, parties, or food, it’s no secret that it is an expensive season.

And one savvy mum has come up with a smart way to make extra cash throughout the festive period.

Mum and content creator Shannon Nunn, who has a five-year-old daughter, has been documenting her “side hustle” – working as a courier for delivery company Evri.

On her second day on the job, Shannon was astounded by the amount of parcels she had to fit in her car. “Unsure why they think I drive I lorry,” she joked.

Thankfully, she managed to put all her stuff in the boot of her car. She doesn’t love wearing a high-vis vest on the job, but was pleased that she managed to get 55 parcels done in one day. “She’s on a roll,” Shannon said on her TikTok page where she raked in over one million views after sharing her experience.

People were quick to comment, asking about what it is like, while others shared their experience in a similar role.

One person asked: “Is the pay worth it? And are you self-employed or employed by Evri? Seriously considering.” Shannon replied: “Self-employed, you can quit whenever you want without being tied to anything.”

Another asked: “What time do you have to go and pick the parcels up?” Shannon said: “Whatever time you want. I’m doing it around my little girls school hours for two days a week as I already have another job.”

Shannon also clapped back at people who said it was “the worst week” of their life when they did the same job. She said: “Obviously, I’m not taking it seriously. Like, it’s not a serious career. It’s not that deep. You’ve not been drafted to war. I’m literally in my local town delivering Margaret in number 80 a parcel. If you don’t want to do it, you don’t have to.”

How much do Evri couriers make?

An Evri spokesperson told LADbible: “Couriers are at the heart of our business and all of Evri’s people are paid above the National Living Wage, with the average courier pay in excess of £17 per hour. But the exact amount can change based on where you work, how much experience you have, and if you work full-time or part-time.

Previously, a YouTuber named Issac, who also delivers for the company, said: “You’re getting 50p a collection, no matter what you’re collecting. A postable gets you 38p, despite some postables not being able to be actually posted.

“You get 47p per packet that you deliver – and there’s going to be a lot of packets, and your standard box gets you about 63p, unless it’s heavy or you have to use two hands because then, it’s £1. That may not seem like a lot, but with the amount of parcels that the staff deliver, it quickly adds up to up to £100 per day, depending on the hours you work.”
